Neat and tidy. That's how I like my cupboards and my life. However, my cupboards rarely look that way. My life too if I'm honest. There's a felt tension between my circumstances and my faith. I can be tempted to put my head in the sand and not see my circumstances for what they are. Or to be so overwhelmed by my circumstances that I can't see how God could move. Jody and Shawna wrestle through what it looks like to live in the tension that our circumstances are real and having the faith to believe that there isn't any circumstance God cannot change. Do you ever compare yourselves to others and feel like your falling short? Yeah, we get that. Shawna admits that she even compares herself to the Shawna she thinks she ought to be. What if trying to be someone else, even a perfect version of yourself, keeps us from being who God created us to be? How do we avoid the pit of comparison and rest in God's goodness? What are you looking forward to? A holiday?  Vacation? Warmer weather?  We spend weeks, months even, planning and preparing. Anticipation of good things is such a fun part of life!  As Christ followers we anticipate the celebration of Jesus' death and resurrection during Easter week. How are you preparing for Easter? Jody and Shawna share what they are stepping into this lent season as well as offer helpful tips for drawing near to God in this special time of the year.

We all came running into 2025 with grand ideas about what we were going to do differently and how we were going to be different. How’s it going? Shawna said it would be a year of decluttering. Jody said she was going to have a weekly deep soaking time with the Lord. Among other things we talked about going after in 2025 Jody and Shawna check in with one another and encourage each other(and you) to keep going!!!!

What keeps you from meeting face to face with Jesus? Are you just so busy? Man, we get that. Are you afraid? Us too. And yet the One who loves you longs to be WITH you - to tell you the truth in the most loving, perfect way. Jody and Shawna open up about the obstacles that stand in the way of meeting with Jesus and having a growing heart to enjoy His presence.

As we learn to abide in Christ we get the incredible privilege and blessing of being WITH the One who is WITH us! And loves us!!!!! And there’s more! Jody and Shawna talk about the natural outcomes that come from abiding. Things like joining God in the work He’s doing in other’s lives, a heart that wants to obey Him, knowing our true identity in Him, joy, maturity and oh my goodness so much more!!! It’s God’s good and beautiful plan that as we abide in Him and He in us that the world may believe in Jesus!

Linger…stay…these words draw us in close. These words express desire for closeness. In John 15 Jesus invites us to remain in Him. It’s an invitation to live in Hiim. He doesn’t want to stop by for coffee, He wants to bring His toothbrush and do life together. Jody and Shawna talk about what “abiding” with Jesus looks like in their lives and practical ways that you can begin to nurture and keep nurturing a personal relationship with Jesus.

What’s cluttering your relationship with God? Shawna’s word for 2025 is “Declutter”. Yes, her home, and also her schedule, and her inner world…her thoughts and feelings. But that’s a lot. So, let’s just start with the boot room. If you don’t know, a boot room is basically a glorified coat closet. Jody and Shawna process how the cleaning out of Shawna’s boot room(physically) has been a metaphor for the rest of her life. What clutter needs to be cleared out of your metaphorical boot room for you to enjoy meeting with God and to experience His peace?
