  • Interview with James Taylor

In this episode, I dive into all things materials with James Taylor. He's an accomplished materials writer and content producer (he also has 4 podcasts he works with). We chat about all things from course books and printed materials to integrating authentic materials while getting completely sidetracked along the way. • Interview with Henrique Zamboni

Henrique is absolutely one of my personal favorites to have a chat with. In this episode, I got to sit down with my kind-hearted friend to bang on some panelas and burn down the establishment (only half kidding here of course). Henrique and I wanted to talk about something really important to us though, he specializes in teaching teens and I've got some experience in that area too. We tackle and voice our opinions about issues that the we are told not to talk about in ELT. Why not?! PARSNIPs - we say: "let's talk about it alllll my friends!"

    • How do you justify your salary?

In this episode, I dig into the questions: what is a teacher? How do you justify your salary as a teacher? As I thought about this question, I first thought of the role of a teacher in the classroom and wanted to share some common roles in the classroom that a teacher might take on, how your role in lessons is going to change depending on what you and the students are doing, and also thoughts about what to strive for.

      • Interview with Keiran Devine

Keiran and I sat down to share our experiences about homework and dealing with adult students online. Mr. Devine (please pronounce it divine - it's his stage name haha) has been teaching in Brazil for over 6 years and hails from the North of Ireland. He's a great person who I had the pleasure of meeting at a teaching conference. Our chat is light and easy going just like it should be between teacher friends!

      • Cancelled Classes Means Reading Time

In this quick episode, I chat about taking advantage of an hour I had where I could catch up on some reading for a study group I recently joined. I read the  Preface and Introduction of Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa's book Making Classrooms Better.

      • Interview with Sergio Pantoja

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Sergio, a great professional and someone I consider a friend in ELT. We had a long chat about language development for teachers as that is his specialty. We also went back into Sergio's past as a freshly graduated language teacher, his time teaching in public schools before moving into what he does now, language development courses. We spent some time reflecting on some of the changes that are going to be happening in our area and what that means for ELT professionals in Brazil.

      • Interview with Jane Coury

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Jane years ago at an ELT conference in Brasilia through a mutual friend, Henry. She has always been lovely and so kind. Jane is a seasoned ELT professional that works with creating content and teaching teachers and I've always admired her approach. She and I had a chat about mindfulness in the online classroom as it was the focus of her most recent thesis. She really reminds us to bring the humanity back to the humanities.

      • Interview with Isabel Badra and Ricardo Barros

In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with two wonderful people and colleagues, Isabel and Ricardo. Ricardo is a well-known a (and beloved) CELTA tutor who was fortunate enough to work with Isabel on her CELTA. As I am starting my journey into becoming a CELTA tutor, we thought it was appropriate to sit down and have a little chat reflecting on the experience, positive, negatives, and things we suggest for the next generations of CELTA seekers.  (We had some technical challenges on the day so I apologize in advance that you can only see one of our BEAUTIFUL faces at a time.)
