Chris Vannini from The Athletic reported Thursday afternoon that people at the Mountain West Conference have brought NDSU's name as a possible candidate for membership if the league needs to expand if current members leave for a different league.

This is the first time in this news cycle that a national outlet has mentioned NDSU as a potential FBS candidate.
