In a world where everyone could use a helping hand, it's a powerful reminder that we're all interconnected for a purpose. This week, I had the incredible privilege of hosting Jessica Brittani on the Realizing Genius Podcast, and her story is a testament to the transformative power of seeking and receiving assistance when it's most needed.
Jessica's personal journey is one that resonates deeply. As a teenager, she grappled with her own mental health challenges, facing a turbulent inner battle. But it was the heartbreaking loss of someone dear to her, lost to suicide, that truly shook her world. Determined to turn her pain into purpose, Jessica embarked on a path of becoming a compassionate coach and a passionate advocate for seeking help.
For years, Jessica has dedicated herself to coaching teenagers, nurturing their potential, and guiding them towards a brighter future. Yet her impact extends far beyond one-on-one sessions. Recognizing the crucial role of a supportive community, she has now established an online hub where families can find solace, understanding, and guidance in their own journeys. This virtual haven not only offers a safe space but also provides invaluable resources to help families navigate the complexities of life.
But Jessica's reach doesn't stop there. Realizing the profound impact coaching can have on transforming lives, she has created a specialized program to empower others who aspire to enter this noble profession. By sharing her wisdom and expertise, she equips aspiring coaches with the necessary tools to make a genuine difference in the lives of those they serve.
Jessica Brittani's story is an embodiment of resilience, compassion, and the unwavering belief that we are all capable of rising above our struggles. • Vickie Amerine – Advocating for Our Kids
I had the pleasure of chatting with Vickie Amerine,  where she shared her journey from being an advocate for her special needs daughter to becoming an educator who changed the school system in her district. I highly recommend that you listen to this episode, as Vickie's story is truly inspiring.
When Vickie's daughter was diagnosed with special needs, she quickly realized that she needed to become her daughter's advocate. She had to learn how to navigate the complex world of special education, and it was a challenge to get her daughter the support she needed. But Vickie didn't give up. She knew that her daughter deserved the best education possible, and she was determined to make it happen.
One thing that Vickie emphasized throughout the podcast episode was the importance of communication. She had to learn how to effectively communicate with educators and find common ground. It wasn't easy, but it was necessary. By working together, Vickie and the educators were able to create a plan that worked for her daughter.
Vickie's experience as an advocate led her to pursue a special education credential. She wanted to be able to help other parents and their children navigate the system. Vickie's background as a parent gave her a unique perspective as an educator. She was able to better understand and serve special needs students.
Through her work as an educator, Vickie made a difference in the school system in her district. She used her knowledge and experience to create a more inclusive environment for special needs children. Her advocacy work helped to make changes within the system, and she has had a lasting impact.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to listen to Vickie's podcast episode. Her journey is a reminder of the importance of advocating for our children. As parents, we know our children best, and we need to be their voice. It's not always easy, but it's worth it. By working together with educators, we can create a better future for our children.
If you're struggling to advocate for your special needs child, Vickie has some advice for you. First, don't give up. Keep pushing for what your child needs. Second, and most importantly, be open to communication. Work with educators to find common ground and create a plan that works for your child. Finally, educate yourself. Learn as much as you can about the special education system so that you can be the best advocate possible for your child.

  • Mandi Frost – The Benefits of Finding a Coach for Your Teen
Hey there! I'm excited to share with you an upcoming podcast episode where I chat with Mandi Frost, an academic coach who partners with parents to coach students.
What's interesting is that Mandi doesn't just coach students - she also coaches parents. She believes that a three-way partnership is crucial for success when working with a child. That way, everyone is on the same page, and the child can get the support they need both at home and with their coach.
But there's a delicate balance between confidentiality and communication with parents. Mandi shares how she navigates this and ensures that the student feels comfortable with her while also keeping parents in the loop.
As a homeschooler, I've struggled with making summers productive for my kids. And it turns out, I'm not alone. Mandi has some parent workshops coming up, and she talks about how these workshops can help parents coach their child to be more productive during the summer while also building a stronger relationship with them.
Mandi also talks about how coaching parents to be more like a coach than a boss can lead to more cooperation and better outcomes for everyone involved.
If you're a homeschooler or a parent looking for ways to support your child's academic success, you won't want to miss this episode. Mandi has so much knowledge and experience to share, and I guarantee you'll come away with some valuable insights.
    BIOGRAPHY
Mandi is from Zimbabwe and home-educated her three young adult sons, two of which had learning challenges. Children learn best through multisensory, hands-on experiences as they delight in their learning through “real life” connections that build confidence and life skills. As a certified academic life coach, career coach, and parent coach, Mandi created coach programs to support (tw)teens in healthy mindsets towards resilient confidence and healthy independence so they make better choices and build strategies to manage their lives responsibly. Mandi is a speaker at educational conferences & summits, encouraging parents how to build self-directed learners who are strong in their faith, lead with confidence and relationship. Mandi partners with parents in “The Coach Approach,”- shifting from boss-manager-parent to curious-coach-parent - for more connection and relationship. The Home Harmony Academy provides parents with coach strategies on how to guide and equip their family in making healthier life choices, encouraging respectful responses, building better time management and focus so children manage their lives confidently with accountability as they work together to honor God. When Mandi is not coaching, she is reading, studying her Bible, walking in the mountains, road-tripping, or soaking up the sun. Being outdoors brings a special calm and peace and a reminder of God`s goodness and provision having lived in Africa (Zimbabwe) and experienced many life-changing trials and transitions.

  • Michelle DeKeyser – Support for the Mamas
As parents and educators, our lives revolve around our kids.  That isn't a bad thing... unless we get lost along the way.  Michelle DeKeyser helps moms find their way.  One of the things I love about this episode is the realization Michelle shares about how her son is benefitting from her realizing her genius.  Be sure to listen, subscribe, and share!
    BIOGRAPHY
Michelle DeKeyser Motherhood Coach, Teacher, & Speaker
Michelle envisions connecting mamas by building a support system together to remove the loneliness and isolation that can be felt in motherhood. She holds a MA in education, spent eight years dedicated to the classroom, and traveled around the world before starting her own family and becoming a stay-at-home mom of three active kids. She has both led and participated in various mom groups and book clubs, but despite these groups, she always envisioned something different. Michelle found herself looking around, suddenly forgetting what she could do for herself that didn’t involve the kid’s activities.
As she worked to discover her own passions, Michelle realized there is no one-size-fits-all program for moms getting back in touch with themselves. The true key to figuring out your passion and making your goals happen is finding connections in a supportive environment. Her new mission became helping other mamas find their passions in a supportive, empowering environment surrounded by grace while have the ability to be more present with their families. Michelle has started spreading this message through YouTube (@connectingmamas), Instagram (@mama_connector), her Blog at www.connectingmamas.com, and courses using her Check-In framework.
