We can choose to view the world, and our own life, through a perspective of being blessed, or being a victim. We choose this.

But, if we want to feel lucky, and put chance on our side, we have to be moving forwards toward a goal in life. The tailwinds of chance cannot help us if we aren't working to get somewhere.

If we are looking to become self-actualized, like Maslow often talks about, there is one key attribute that will set us apart. By learning to make our own decisions, and choose what we want to do in our life, we can gain self-determination and take control of our self-actualization.

This is how I reduced or eliminated bad days in my life--I realized I was rewarding myself when I had a bad day! So, I stopped rewarding myself when I was having bad days, and forced myself to get through it, and started rewarding myself on good days.

Often we compare ourselves and try too much to be like other people. We may want their fame, their fortune, or something else, but usually it isn't positive characteristics we seek. This will not help us become self-aware. To find self-awareness, we must let go of what we think we want to become, and figure out who we really are and what is going to make us happy.

When building new habits, and building self-discipline, there are three phases we need to go through. However, most of us try to start at the hardest phase of self-discipline, phase three, right away, which leads us to failure. Learn the correct way to build self-discipline and new habits in a way that lasts a lifetime.

For 15 years I was an "entrepreneur" struggling and moving around the country, but I learned self-awareness, and more about myself than I ever could have learned before, and that was one of the best things I could ever do for my life.

Quitting marijuana was not easy, quitting video games was not easy, but I learned some very good lessons during that time.

If we expect others around us to be amazing, perfect, and polite, we are going to have a bad time. By having right expectations of those around us, we give ourselves power to better control our own emotions and reactions.

If we want to move towards finding what is right, true, or accurate in the world, we have to be willing to be wrong, a lot, and willing to start from a plate of "I don't know" in order to move in the right direction.

We only have a finite amount of energy and using that constantly judging others, blaming others, and not using that energy specifically to improve ourselves is a waste.
