Reasoning Through the Bible

Discover the intriguing parallels between the critics from Nehemiah's era and the detractors that plague modern churches. In today's episode we embark on a fascinating journey to unpack the ridicule and mockery Nehemiah faced in his mission to rebuild Jerusalem's city walls. As we traverse the narrative of Nehemiah, we reveal the darker side of Sandballot and Tobiah’s nature, stirring animosity while offering nothing constructive. We unmask their attitudes, born out of a perceived threat to personal domains and a reluctance to witness other's success. The conversation takes a deeper turn as we suggest that the loudest critics may be the ones with the weakest relationship with the Lord.

Lastly, we dissect Nehemiah's potent prayer, his plea to God to punish his tormentors. This prayer, a stark contrast to others in the Bible, teaches us to stand firm against critics and leave their judgment to God. As we wrap up, we evaluate the trials of Christian ministry and how faith in God equips us with the strength to endure. Join us as we extract wisdom from Nehemiah's experiences, giving you the tools to handle criticism and negativity in your ministry or church.

In today's session, we answer four questions posed to us.

1. Regarding faith and works, what constitutes a work?
2. Is Christianity a white man's religion?
3. Can our tongues declare things to be?
4. To what extent are the effects of sin in creation and humans?

Can you separate faith from works in your journey towards salvation? In our latest episode, we dive right into this deep question, pulling apart the two and examining their roles in Christian salvation. We take a hard look at 'work', the effort we believe earns us righteousness and juxtapose it with faith, the bedrock of belief and trust in God and His promises. Clarifying misunderstandings, we debunk the theory that God must first regenerate us before we can have faith and stand firm on the scriptural truth - nothing we do can make us righteous.

Is Christianity merely a white man's religion? We challenge this idea, tracing the historical roots of Christianity and highlighting its spread across the globe. Exploring the reasons behind this racial perspective, we also delve into the controversial concept of speaking reality into existence, casting it aside as an occult practice linked to the Word of Faith movement. So, tune in as we navigate these interesting questions from the broader RTTB community and bringing you a wealth of scriptural insights in the process.

From the tale of the Israelites building the Tabernacle, you’ll discover the profound joy that comes from seeing the fruit of the Lord's work that you've contributed to.

We also explore the significance of the gold threads woven into the blue, purple, and scarlet fabric and the beauty of starting afresh with God. Join us on this last session in Exodus, a book that demonstrates symbolism between the era of The Law and the Age of Grace. Come, let's find fulfillment in giving!

Just how significant is the Biblical Sabbath in our lives today? We ferret out more information in this episode that might change the way you think about rest, work, and the glory of God. Continuing to draw from the Biblical account of Moses, we mine rich insights into how the allure of 'shiny things' can distract us from our true focus: God. We discuss the veil Moses dons, urging ourselves to be discerning about where the glory is truly resting - on shiny distractions or God himself?

As we continue our journey, we take a critical look at the traditions and constraints associated with the Sabbath, particularly in the light of Jesus' arrival. We reflect on the provocative statement 'the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath' - a timeless message that still stirs discussions among modern Sabbath observers. This episode is a penetrating dialogue that will not only inspire you to work for the glory of God but also to rest in His glory. Join us as we explore these Biblical truths together.
