On Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the Department of Education to begin the process of dismantling itself, aiming to transfer authority over education to state and local governments. This move aligns with Trump's longstanding goal to reduce federal oversight in education, asserting that local entities are better suited to address the unique needs of their communities.  ​
