  • Episode 227: I'll Miss The Me I Was When You Weren't Gone
This is the next song in the possession album. The me-character is anticipating being sad when the fire god goes away. She's anticipating missing how she, herself, used to be when he was here. Oh, yeah, the last little verse thingy is a little hard to understand - it's "I'll miss the us we were when you weren't gone."

  • Episode 226: Everything Sucks Today
This is another song where the hook came from a dream. It's about having a day that really sucks. You know those days, where you wish you had stayed in bed because everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong? That's what this song's about.

  • Episode 225: It Is Time To Come Out Of That Stupid Bedroom
Here's the 999th song about escaping from an abusive relationship, yesiree.See, all of us are made of different parts, and some of those parts hold on to traumas. There's a part o' me that still feels like she's in the bedroom of the bad man who used to be my boyfriend. This song's all about welcoming that part of me back into the sunlight. C'mon out, little me, you don't have to be scared anymore.

  • Episode 224: Your Soul Has Lots Of Light In It
This is the next song in the possession album. the me-character is all sad, anticipating the fire god returning to the sun, and she makes the realization that she'll no longer be a bright, shiny person, without the fire god's presence. She's anticipating bein' dull without bein' able to sit in the glow of his fiery-ness. But in the bridgy part and the rap part. the fire god tells her she's mistaken - that her own soul has plenty of light in it. Then the last verse-y thing is her talkin' to him and then him talkin' to her. After the weird rhythm break, the fire god sings some more. Yesiree.

  • Episode 223: Your Soul Has Lots of Light in It
Yeah, this'll probably be part o' a larger song later on today. It's one o' those little demos, featuring my air conditioner. Sometimes it alleviates my anxieties to post these little demos at the beginning of the day, cuz then if my internet craps out or I have a power outage, I'll still have posted a little Friday ditty. Friday ditties are essential.

  • Episode 222: Highland Park is Blurry
I had eye surgery on Tuesday this week, and this song came to me Wednesday night in a dream. See, Highland Park is a neighborhood town-thingy in LA that I gotta drive through to get to the 134 freeway, which took me to the surgery place. When I randomly heard the "Highland Park is Blurry" hook of this song in my dream, I wrote it down cuz that's what I do. Later on, I realized that particular sentence is a weird double entendre: My eyeball that I needed the surgery for was blurry, and some might describe the culture in Highland Park as bein' blurry, in the sense that it's rapidly gentrifying. The culture of Highland Park is a blurry mass, consisting of the original people who live there and the new people streaming in. Don't worry, I actually had a person drive me, unlike how it looks in the picture. I drew it that way because me drivin' by myself in the picture adds a bit o' poignancy or something to this whole thing.

  • Episode 221: No, You Can't Be What The Ghosts Used To Be
This is the next song in the possession album. The baby part of the me-character's spirit has now integrated with her, and the me-character is realizing to what extent she used to lump spirits and ghosts together in her mind. The baby-part of her ain't a ghost, she's realizing. See, I got the hook thingy from a dream, and I thought, okay, yeah, I'll make this be the hook of the song about the baby soul retrieval thingy. Yesiree.

  • Episode 219: Angry Little Paul Heads
This is a song about something weird. One day in 2004, I got really stoned, and I was sitting there, playing my guitar, making up a bunch of songs. Suddenly, I realized my stoned state of mind was making me see weird stuff. I saw angry little cartoon pictures of my ex-boyfriend's head everywhere! I saw angry little Paul heads! I wasn't hallucinating or anything like that - it's more like my mind was seizing upon the features of objects and constructing angry little Paul heads out of them. I saw angry little Paul heads in my keyboard speakers. I saw angry little Paul heads in the texture of the carpeting. Angry little Paul heads were everywhere. But it wasn't scary or bad or anything like that. More than anything else, it made me happy I'd broken up with him years before.FYI, Paul's the dude in the song from August 26th ("He Cleaned Out My Insides With Bleach").

  • Episode 218: You Can Leave Comments Now
I wanted to let y'all out there in Music-Land know the comments on this podcast have been enabled. The previous settings made it so I had to go in and approve comments in order for them to be visible. This generated some confusion, in that, when people tried to leave comments, it looked like they disappeared into a void. Rest assured, all the comments people left are visible now cuz I went in and approved them. So, you can leave comments any time you want now. But you don't have to.
