Rebel Rootz Show Episode #84 with Addison LaBonte.
Addison LaBonte never planned on becoming an entrepreneur. She was a D1 soccer player, a math major, and working in finance when unexpected health issues pushed her to completely rethink the way she was eating. Going gluten-free helped her feel like herself again and eventually inspired her to start sharing recipes through Organically Addison.
What began as a passion project in a 700-square-foot apartment kitchen quickly turned into something much bigger. After her cookie recipes started going viral and followers began asking if they could buy them, Addison spent months testing recipes, shipping cookies across the country, and building what would become Sweet Addison’s.
In this episode, Evonne and Addison talk about leaving the safety of corporate America, surviving the exhausting early days of entrepreneurship, dealing with doubt and naysayers, building confidence, listening to your customers, and learning to keep going even when the path makes no sense to anyone else. Addison also opens up about the sacrifices it took to grow the business and how entrepreneurship completely changed her as a person.
Today, Sweet Addison’s has grown into a million-dollar better-for-you dessert brand, with retail expansion on the horizon. Addison’s story is a reminder that the path you planned is not always the one you are meant to follow, and sometimes the biggest opportunity begins when you are willing to bet on yourself.

Rebel Rootz Show Episode #83 with Bethany Spencer
At 38, Bethany Spencer became a widow with five kids under the age of 11 after her husband died just 11 months after a cancer diagnosis. In an instant, the life she thought she was building changed completely.
In this episode, Evonne and Bethany talk about grief, motherhood, raising kids through loss, accepting help, and what it actually looks like to rebuild a life when everything familiar is gone. Bethany also shares why healthy grieving mattered so much to her, especially because she wanted her children to see that grief is something you process, not something you bury.
Bethany also opens up about finding love again, why becoming Keith’s wife does not make her any less of Eric’s widow, and how her family keeps Eric’s memory alive while still making room for a new chapter.
Today, Bethany lives in Costa Rica, coaches people through grief, and is preparing to release her book in March. Her story is a reminder that moving forward does not mean forgetting what came before. Sometimes rebuilding means learning how to hold both.

Rebel Rootz Show Episode #81 with Jenn Drummond.
What happens when “someday” almost never comes?
Jenn Drummond was a mom of seven doing everything she thought she was supposed to do, while quietly putting herself last. Then a near-fatal car crash changed everything. After surviving an accident she was told she should not have survived, Jenn began questioning the life she was living, the dreams she kept postponing, and why other people’s opinions mattered more than her own.
That shift eventually took her from never sleeping in a tent to climbing some of the highest mountains on Earth and becoming a Guinness World Record-setting mountaineer. Her journey also forced her to rediscover who she was outside of motherhood, trust her intuition again, and show her kids what it looks like to do hard things.
Evonne and Jenn also talk about infertility, raising seven kids, reinvention, identity, motherhood, and why accomplishing something extraordinary does not mean you have to keep chasing the next mountain. Today, Jenn is taking that lesson into her next chapter through her Somedays project, helping people stop postponing the experiences, relationships, and moments that make them feel alive.
You don’t have to climb Everest to change your life. Sometimes the first step is simply deciding that “someday” is no longer good enough.

Rebel Rootz Show Episode #80 with Alice Sounthala
What if perfectionism isn’t helping you succeed, but keeping you stuck?
In this episode, Evonne sits down with licensed clinical social worker Alice Sounthala to talk about perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, self-worth, and the stories we create in our own heads.
Alice explains why perfectionism often comes from fear of making mistakes or being judged, how it creates indecision, and why sometimes the best thing you can do is “fail your way forward.”
They also break down the four attachment styles, why anxious and avoidant people often find each other, and how overthinking a text message can quickly turn into a story that may not be true.
The conversation also explores the difference between changing yourself and trying to “fix” yourself, and why growth should come from what you actually want for your life.
If you’ve ever waited for the perfect moment, struggled to disappoint people, or overthought yourself into doing nothing, this one is for you.

Jennifer also opens up about the years of work behind the success, taking big risks, navigating difficult seasons, and entering a new chapter as her only son heads off to college.
For any woman in midlife wondering, “Is it too late for me to start something new?” Jennifer’s message is simple: go for it. Stop second-guessing yourself. Crawl before you walk, keep learning, and don’t let age decide what you can do.

Rebel Rootz Show Episode #77 with Alex Richardson.
After giving birth to her first child, Alex Richardson entered one of the loneliest seasons of her life. She was struggling with undiagnosed postpartum anxiety, feeling isolated at home, and realizing that while everyone focused on the baby, very little support existed for the mother.
When the same gaps appeared after her second child, Alex turned her experience into 4th Trimester Mission, a nonprofit helping new moms feel cared for, connected, and supported during the first 12 weeks after birth.
In this episode, Evonne and Alex talk about what the fourth trimester really is, why new moms struggle to ask for help, and the subtle signs of postpartum anxiety and other perinatal mood disorders. Alex also shares practical ways to support a new mom, including meals, household help, pelvic floor therapy, lactation support, postpartum doulas, mental health care, and community.
They also discuss maternal intuition, feeding choices, mom guilt, and why a new mother may need someone to do the dishes more than she needs someone to hold the baby.
This conversation is for new moms, expecting parents, partners, grandparents, friends, and anyone who wants to better support a woman after birth.
Because bringing home a baby should never mean a mother has to disappear.

Rebel Rootz Show Episode #76 with Jamie Lynn House.
Jamie Lynn House is a published author, health advocate, and devoted mother who transformed her family's lifestyle after her son developed unexplained health symptoms. What began as a search for answers became a journey into functional health, healing, and learning to trust her intuition when conventional medicine fell short.
In this episode, Evonne Varady sits down with Jamie to talk about advocating for your children, questioning the status quo, balancing motherhood with your own identity, and why healing often starts long before a diagnosis. Jamie shares how becoming a health coach helped her better understand her son's health, why she believes small lifestyle changes matter, and how writing became a creative outlet during one of the hardest seasons of her life.
Evonne and Jamie also explore food, functional health, AI's growing role in medicine, raising children with dietary restrictions, and the courage to keep searching for answers when something inside tells you there is more to the story.
This conversation is for the woman who has ever felt dismissed, questioned her intuition, or wondered if there was another path forward. Sometimes the most rebellious thing you can do is trust yourself.

Rebel Rootz Show Episode #75 with Robyn Godfrey.
Robyn Godfrey is a TEDx speaker, bestselling author, keynote speaker, seven-time marathoner, and author of Running the World. After leaving a successful corporate career, Robyn built a new life around a powerful lesson she learned on a treadmill: you do not need more motivation, you need to take action.
In this episode, Evonne Varady sits down with Robyn to talk about leaving corporate America, rebuilding identity, running marathons around the world, caregiving for a spouse with chronic pain, and learning how to move forward before you feel ready.
Robyn shares how one 30-second treadmill run changed the direction of her life, why motivation can become a trap, and how small steps create real momentum. Evonne and Robyn also talk about the hidden emotional weight of caregiving, the power of community, and why success does not have to fit inside anyone else’s box.
This conversation is for the woman entering a new chapter who feels overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin. Sometimes the first step is not a full reinvention. Sometimes it is just 30 seconds.
