Join Jamie & Lindsay, self proclaimed as two 'recovering nice girls', while they share their journey in coming to the heart of the matter - Truth! Not just everyday don't tell lies kind of truth, but the big T kinda truth, which in yogic philosophy is termed Satya.
In this deeply honest and vulnerable episode, J & L discuss how being real is fundamentally more authentic and trustworthy than being nice, how our social systems contribute to the masks we wear and so often reward a 'chameleon' way of being in the world. Jamie & Lindsay share personal stories about how they have removed many of their own masks, and come to identify with a greater truth and self-identity that lives beyond the personas.
J & L explore how turmoil, drama and anxiety so often come from self-betrayal and abandonment, and ultimately how these troubles are sustained when we hide from the Truth of who we are. They share experiences of liberation, depth, presence and joy that emerge from living aligned with big T truths, and how to begin to feel into what that might look like for you. Learn some of the ingredients to truth telling, and what telling the truth can cost, both for better and for worse. In this thorough and organic discussion, J & L also dissect what truth isn't, and how to begin to discern this in ourselves so we have an appropriate compass in the outside world when speaking our truth.
A central theme of Satya is that the 'Truth Moves': That if what's being offered is real and and tethered to 'Ahimsa' (Be sure to listen to episode 1 in the series to learn about this!) then it will always take us forward to our next opportunity for freedom in our hearts and lives. That if we begin moving towards the 'life-giving opportunities' that the Truth offers us in the moment, then we can begin to expand in relationship with ourselves and others instead of constantly seeking relief through avoidance, lies, and maladaptive coping mechanisms that keep us in the dark. Although it can be difficult and scary to be truthful at times, J & L share how this practice consistently yields a self-reliance and trustworthiness that allows for unconditional love to emerge.
Jamie & Lindsay refer to Deborah Adele's beautiful and transformative book, Exploring the Yamas & Niyamas as a touch point in this conversation, and highly recommend that you read it! It is from the deepest well of gratitude for Deb that this podcast series is being offered.
