36 이것이 그 꿈인데, 우리가 그것을 풀이하여 임금님께 말씀드리겠습니다.

“This was the dream. Now we will tell the king its interpretation.

37 임금님, 임금님은 왕들 가운데서도 으뜸가는 왕이십니다. 하늘의 하나님이 임금님께 나라와 권세와 힘과 영광을 주셨습니다.

You, O king, the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, and the might, and the glory,

38 사람과 들의 짐승과 공중의 새를, 그들이 어디에 있든지 임금님의 손에 넘겨 주시고, 이 모두를 다스리는 통치자로 세우셨습니다. 임금님은 바로 그 금으로 된 머리이십니다.

and into whose hand he has given, wherever they dwell, the children of man, the beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens, making you rule over them all—you are the head of gold.

39 임금님 뒤에는 임금님의 나라보다 못한 다른 나라가 일어날 것입니다. 그 뒤에 놋쇠로 된 셋째 나라가 온 땅을 다스릴 것입니다.

Another kingdom inferior to you shall arise after you, and yet a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.

40 넷째 나라는 쇠처럼 강할 것입니다. 쇠는 모든 것을 으깨고 박살 냅니다. 쇠가 모든 것을 부서뜨리는 것처럼, 그 나라는 뭇 나라를 으깨고 부서뜨릴 것입니다.

And there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron breaks to pieces and shatters all things. And like iron that crushes, it shall break and crush all these.

41 임금님이 보신 발과 발가락의 일부는 토기장이의 진흙이고 일부는 쇠였던 것 같이, 그 나라는 나누어질 것입니다. 그러나 임금님이 진흙과 쇠가 함께 있는 것을 보신 것 같이, 그 나라는 쇠처럼 강한 면도 있을 것입니다.

And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom, but some of the firmness of iron shall be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the soft clay.

42 그 발가락의 일부가 쇠이고 일부가 진흙인 것 같이, 그 나라의 일부는 강하고 일부는 쉽게 부서질 것입니다.

And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle.

43 임금님께서 진흙과 쇠가 함께 있는 것을 보신 것 같이, 그들이 다른 인종과 함께 살 것이지만, 쇠와 진흙이 서로 결합되지 못하는 것처럼, 그들이 결합되지 못할 것입니다.

As you saw the iron mixed with soft clay, so they will mix with one another in marriage, but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay.

44 이 왕들의 시대에, 하늘의 하나님이 한 나라를 세우실 터인데, 그 나라는 영원히 망하지 않을 것이며, 다른 백성에게 넘어가지 않을 것입니다. 그 나라가 도리어 다른 모든 나라를 쳐서 멸망시키고, 영원히 설 것입니다.

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever,

45 아무도 돌을 떠내지 않았는데, 돌 하나가 난데없이 날아들어 와서 쇠와 놋쇠와 진흙과 은과 금을 으깨는 것을 임금님이 보신 것은, 위대하신 하나님이 앞으로 일어날 일을 임금님께 알려 주신 것입니다. 이 꿈은 그대로 이루어질 것이고, 이 해몽도 틀림없습니다."

just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.”

46 느부갓네살 왕이 엎드려서 다니엘에게 절하고, 예물과 향품을 그에게 주도록 명령을 내렸다.

Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face and paid homage to Daniel, and commanded that an offering and incense be offered up to him.

47 왕이 다니엘에게 말하였다. "그대들의 하나님은 참으로 모든 신 가운데서 으뜸가는 신이시요, 모든 왕 가운데서 으뜸가는 군주이시다. 그대가 이 비밀을 드러낼 수 있었으니, 과연 그대의 하나님은 비밀을 드러내는 분이시다."

The king answered and said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.”

호세아 (Hosea) 14:1-6 [새번역/ESV]

1 이스라엘아, 주 너의 하나님께로 돌아오너라. 네가 지은 죄가 너를 걸어 거꾸러뜨렸지만,

Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.

2 너희는 말씀을 받들고 주님께로 돌아와서 이렇게 아뢰어라. "우리가 지은 모든 죄를 용서하여 주십시오. 우리를 자비롭게 받아 주십시오. 수송아지를 드리는 대신에 우리가 입술을 열어 주님을 찬양하겠습니다.

Take with you words and return to the Lord; say to him, “Take away all iniquity; accept what is good, and we will pay with bulls the vows of our lips.

3 다시는 앗시리아에게 우리를 살려 달라고 호소하지 않겠습니다. 군마를 의지하지도 않겠습니다. 다시는 우리 손으로 만들어 놓은 우상을 우리의 신이라고 고백하지도 않겠습니다. 고아를 가엾게 여기시는 분은 주님밖에 없습니다."

Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride on horses; and we will say no more, ‘Our God,’ to the work of our hands. In you the orphan finds mercy.”

4 "내가 그들의 반역하는 병을 고쳐 주고, 기꺼이 그들을 사랑하겠다. 그들에게 품었던 나의 분노가 이제는 다 풀렸다.

I will heal their apostasy; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned from them.

5 내가 이스라엘 위에 이슬처럼 내릴 것이니, 이스라엘이 나리꽃처럼 피고, 레바논의 백향목처럼 뿌리를 내릴 것이다.

I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall blossom like the lily; he shall take root like the trees of Lebanon;

6 그 나무에서 가지들이 새로 뻗고, 올리브 나무처럼 아름다워지고, 레바논의 백향목처럼 향기롭게 될 것이다.

his shoots shall spread out; his beauty shall be like the olive, and his fragrance like Lebanon.

1 요나는 이 일이 매우 못마땅하여, 화가 났다.

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.

2 그는 주님께 기도하며 아뢰었다. "주님, 내가 고국에 있을 때에 이렇게 될 것이라고 이미 말씀드리지 않았습니까? 내가 서둘러 스페인으로 달아났던 것도 바로 이것 때문입니다. 하나님은 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 좀처럼 노하지 않으시며 사랑이 한없는 분이셔서, 내리시려던 재앙마저 거두실 것임을 내가 알고 있었기 때문입니다.

And he prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.

3 주님, 이제는 제발 내 목숨을 나에게서 거두어 주십시오! 이렇게 사느니, 차라리 죽는 것이 낫겠습니다."

Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

4 주님께서는 "네가 화를 내는 것이 옳으냐?" 하고 책망하셨다.

And the Lord said, “Do you do well to be angry?”

5 요나는 그 성읍에서 빠져 나와 그 성읍 동쪽으로 가서 머물렀다. 그는 거기에다 초막을 짓고, 그 그늘 아래에 앉았다. 그 성읍이 어찌 되는가를 볼 셈이었다.

Jonah went out of the city and sat to the east of the city and made a booth for himself there. He sat under it in the shade, till he should see what would become of the city.

6 주 하나님이 박 넝쿨을 마련하셨다. 주님께서는, 그것이 자라올라 요나의 머리 위에 그늘이 지게 하여, 그를 편안하게 해주셨다. 박 넝쿨 때문에 요나는 기분이 무척 좋았다.

Now the Lord God appointed a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to save him from his discomfort. So Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the plant.

7 그러나 다음날 동이 틀 무렵, 하나님이 벌레를 한 마리 마련하셨는데, 그것이 박 넝쿨을 쏠아 버리니, 그 식물이 시들고 말았다.

But when dawn came up the next day, God appointed a worm that attacked the plant, so that it withered.

8 해가 뜨자, 하나님이 찌는 듯이 뜨거운 동풍을 마련하셨다. 햇볕이 요나의 머리 위로 내리쬐니, 그는 기력을 잃고 죽기를 자청하면서 말하였다. "이렇게 사느니 차라리 죽는 것이 더 낫겠습니다."

When the sun rose, God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on the head of Jonah so that he was faint. And he asked that he might die and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”

9 하나님이 요나에게 말씀하셨다. "박 넝쿨이 죽었다고 네가 이렇게 화를 내는 것이 옳으냐?" 요나가 대답하였다. "옳다뿐이겠습니까? 저는 화가 나서 죽겠습니다."

But God said to Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “Yes, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.”

10 주님께서 말씀하셨다. "네가 수고하지도 않았고, 네가 키운 것도 아니며, 그저 하룻밤 사이에 자라났다가 하룻밤 사이에 죽어 버린 이 식물을 네가 그처럼 아까워하는데,

And the Lord said, “You pity the plant, for which you did not labor, nor did you make it grow, which came into being in a night and perished in a night.

11 하물며 좌우를 가릴 줄 모르는 사람들이 십이만 명도 더 되고 짐승들도 수없이 많은 이 큰 성읍 니느웨를, 어찌 내가 아끼지 않겠느냐?"

And should not I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle?”
