An invitation to follow Jesus is an invitation to war with our personal sin. God tells us in Romans 6 is that being made right in His sight frees us from the power of sin, but it doesn’t mean that we will never be tempted to sin. The process of being made holy is a battle we will fight until the day we go to be with Jesus for eternity, but it’s one we don’t fight alone.
