Trust. Dorothy Yang produces a beautiful example of what life looks like when you trust God. As a child, Dorothy was introduced to God while attending children’s classes at a church where her mom worked.
From that point God began to slowly reveal Himself and Christ to her. Dorothy’s child-like trust allowed her to continue building a deeper relationship with God.
As life began to throw curveballs at her, Dorothy realized God’s plan, not her plan, was always better. This truth has guided Dorothy into adulthood and a successful non-linear career.
After graduating from UC Berkeley, Dorothy worked for Johnson & Johnson and eventually found herself in her current role working on Community Platforms for Meta. Throughout her varied career, Dorothy has translated her love of God to serving her colleagues with God’s love.
As parents you will be encouraged by the reminder of how God works with your kids. As a person going to work each day, you will be encouraged and given examples to love others as Christ does.
After listening to Episode 20 Part 1, you will now appreciate the “why” behind Cory’s two books, Win @ Home First and Rise & Go.
As you listen to Cory talk about Win @ Home First, you will be encouraged to realign your priorities with Biblical truth. Cory challenges us to rethink why we allow our work commitments to become the top priority of our lives. And in doing so to remember the collateral damage that comes when work is the #1 priority.
As we discuss his second book, Rise & Go, Cory reminds us stuff goes wrong in a somewhat regular manner. The real failure is to stay stuck in the struggle instead of rising and going forward.
You will appreciate Cory’s perspective on family, work, and life. You will also be encouraged to fine tune your attitude and stay close to Christ’s teachings.
Cory’s mom died after a protracted fight against breast cancer while he was still in high school. Cory quickly learned that he had to depend on himself to get through life.
This led Cory to living a life with an attitude of scarcity. He thought “If there is not enough for everyone, then I must run hard and get what is available.”
So Cory attacked the workplace with this attitude which led to some bad choices. At a low point in his life, he remembers Christ and starts the long trek back to spiritual health.
This is Part 1 of a 2 part podcast. In this podcast we explore Cory’s wrestling with God which leads to the writing of his two books, Win @ Home First, and Rise & Go.
Part 2 we will talk with Cory about the two books and what they have meant in his life.

Yet, she is the captain of Flight 1380, whose unique experiences of flying failing aircraft allowed her to do what many would not have been capable of doing. She landed a heavily damaged 737 and saving the lives of 147 people, unfortunately losing one person due to the damage of the fuselage.
The path to this moment is an inspiring story of how walking with God will provide the strength for every obstacle and challenge in life. The full details are in Tammie Jo’s book, “Nerves of Steel”. I know you will receive much encouragement from this podcast with Tammie Jo.
