Prefering idea that music is like a kind of reflection of many factors that influenced the inner world of a person. This is something unique, allowing you to capture the very process of change, its dynamics, and not something static. As a result - it is a special storytelling language that can change the general atmosphere and state of mind. In addition, this language is accessible and understandable to many.

  • #107 | Derek Carr (IE)
@derekcarr has been producing and releasing Detroit-tinged electronic music for almost two decades. He has recently released music on labels such as ‘for those that Knoe’, @subwax-bcn-distribution, ‘Ferox’, @craigie-knowes and @firescopemusic.
Born and raised in Westmeath, Ireland, Derek got an early taste for finely crafted melodic techno through compilations like Network’s "Bio-Rhythms" and Warp’s "Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove". Having been a fan of bands such as Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode through his formative years, Derek felt drawn to this new sound coming from Detroit, Sheffield and Leeds.
Recognising the home made ‘punk’ ethos of early ‘Bleep techno’ he began to pick up second hand instruments, initially investing in a cheetah sampler and boss drum machine.
Derek then set about creating his own sound, a sound that owed much to the techno pioneers, B12, the Black Dog, As One, Nexus 21 and Rhythmatic to name but a few.
In 2001 Derek launched his own label "Trident Recordings" and released the "Copper Beech e.p." (the only release to date) a collection of deep soulful techno. Only 500 copies were pressed and it has since become something of a collector’s item.
Subsequent releases on "Digital Soul" and "Geek Records" further cemented Carr’s place amongst a new generation of techno producers that looked to combine soul and melody with electronic dancefloor grooves.
Derek Carr has built a worthy reputation for producing stunning deep techno and delivering quality DJ and Live sets across Europe.

  • #106 | Kenneth Christiansen (DK)
@kenneth-christiansen and his @echocord label have long been the guardians of dub techno’s second wave. More than that, the Dane & like-minded friends built their very own techno temple in the form of Copenhagen’s intimate @cultureboxcopenhagen. Kenneth worked there for years as artistic director until he decided to focus on his labels and his own DJ-career and left the venue in 2017. More than a decade after starting his label – and later the Echocord Colour sub-label – there have been more than 100 EPs and LPs that have updated continuously and revisited the techno and dub template and have very much contributed to the careers of those that release on it. Kenneth himself is also an accomplished producer as one half of @pattern-repeat with Dennis Bog (@resoe-baum-records). The pair release on their eponymously entitled label and excel at crafting moody, textured and widescreen techno sounds that draw on years of dub culture. As a DJ, Kenneth has been spinning ever since the beginning of the 90’s, immediately picking up gigs all around Europe because of his unique style and tightly honed sonic vision. Few people manage to remain credible and engaged with the underground over such a long period of time, but thanks to his devotion to his city, sounds and the scene, this man has managed it with ease and is here to stay. When Kenneth is djing his focus is mostly on Dub-Techno, but also he likes to spin the underground, edgy house and Techno. Kenneth is a vinyl DJ.

Born in 1980 and raised in the Detroit area, Luke Hess (@deepisdeep) has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. In 2003 he recorded his first promotional mix CD release for UR/Submerge. Since then, his faith based music production has landed him a seat with FXHE and Planet-e in Detroit.
His debut album was released in early May 2009 by Denmark based label @echocord.
In 2010 he began his own interpretation of Detroit techno with his new Detroit project and record label - DeepLabs.
His sophomore album “Keep On” was released on FXHE records in 2012 and received a Recommended 4.5/5 rating on @resident-advisor.

  • #103 | Harrison BDP (UK)
British DJ, music producer and resident of Tbilisi's @khidi club. @harrisonbdp has helped to lay down the foundation for a sound that’s low on frills but high on emotion through its superb utilization of classic techniques and poignant vocal sampling. Harrison BDP is one of the brightest among the new crop of young people emerging in house music. With his sound touching on warm house to tougher, jackin’ cuts, the Cardiff based producer has risen to prominence in the past couple of years thanks to his prolific and consistently solid output. With tracks that feel rooted in house at its purest, the UK producer veers ever to the side with inflections of garage, minimal techno and electro, making for a catalogue that is effective, lush and always appropriate.

  • #102 | Stefan Goldmann (DE)
@stefangoldmann runs the @macrorec label and is closely associated with Berlin's @berghain club. Though nominally techno, his music is distinguished by an ever-imaginative take on the form. It's definitely club music but of a rather distinctive kind produced by a creator who's exceptionally imaginative, endlessly curious, and, one presumes, never happier than when bringing a project to fruition. Several of his tracks have served as genre-shifting blueprints – from his early reductionist works for the Classic and Perlon labels to Sleepy Hollow, Lunatic Fringe or The Maze. Yet he has ventured into a line of projects hacking away at the core features of techno, with systematic forays into, for example, irregular rhythms, microtonal tunings and the recontextualisation of industrial sound design. Apart from DJing in clubs around the globe, his projects have also brought him to locations as distinctive as the Berlin Philharmonic, Los Angeles's LACMA museum and Kyoto's Honen-in Temple.
His mix for @recorder-13 sees him build a highly focused arc, originating from amorphous tones by Grischa Lichtenberger and Mika Vainio, projecting through intricate structural experiments by Donato Dozzy, Stanislav Tolkachev and Aleksi Perälä and culminating in high pressure tracks by the likes of Schacke, L'estasi Dell'oro and Peter van Hoesen. The landing point is an excerpt from Stefan Goldmann's 'Live At Philharmonie Berlin' album, which was just released on Macro.

  • #101 | Noah Pred (CA|DE)
Coaxing nuanced expression from analog machines and digital possibilities alike, @noahpred has been envisioning the future through electronic music for over twenty years – yet the story of this accomplished producer and DJ continues to unfold. Reinterpreting his signature production style anew, 2018 saw the release of two full-lengths charting the territories between deep space experimentalism, intricate polyrhythms, delicate soundscapes, evocative acid, and hypnotic dub frontiers. The breadth of Noah’s sonic worldview was espoused until September 2019 through his monthly two-hour podcast, IFS. Each episode reveals the depth of his technical approach, the sensibility of a seasoned selector, and the pedigree of a late-night veteran.
A two-time Juno Award nominee in his native Canada, a music educator and technologist in his adopted hometown Berlin, an alum of Cynosure, Highgrade, and Trapez LTD, and founder of the acclaimed Thoughtless imprint, Noah is also a DJ whose past residencies at Stereobar in Montreal and Fukhouse in Toronto helped lay the framework for his dynamic yet fluid sets that continue to resonate with diverse communities. A notable newcomer in Canada’s underground scene of the early 2000s, Pred’s distinctive production style earned him a place among his peers with releases on @weareimmigrant, Intrinsic Design, and Consigned Recordings. Driven by the fuel that fired up Thoughtless, Noah relocated to Berlin in 2011, where his creative horizons continued to expand via collaborative projects with @tomclark as @alseimage on @get-physical-music, with @pablo-bolivar on @apparel-music and @biotop-label, with @timxavier on Alphahouse, and with @deepchild as @concubine-berlin.
Between his recent solo EPs for @traumraum-kollektiv, @computemusic, and Biotop, his vivid sets of techno, house, and electro, the advanced sound design of his haunting atmospherics, and the ever-evolving scope of his technical capabilities, Noah’s commitment to electronic innovation remains as strong as ever – and in the face of global uncertainty, his utopian sonic narratives have never felt so vital. With a variety of custom generative sequencers
constructed for his Manifest Audio sound design outlet due for release in 2020, Noah turns his focus toward the possibilities of sound installation and multimedia work.
