Our guest today is writer and Life Coach Dennis Berry. He is the author of the best-selling book "Funky Wisdom: A Practical Guide To Life" and host of The Funky Brain Podcast. Dennis has been sober since April 8, 2003, during which time he became a successful businessman, athlete, and family man. His recovery journey helped him find his life's mission; to help others achieve inner peace and master their lives. Dennis knows what it is like to feel hopeless and without positive direction. He transformed his life and now spends his time helping others do the same.

Years ago, Brighton's leadership had the vision of building an entire recovery campus. It was a massive undertaking full of unexpected hurdles, but we didn't give up! That vision has now been realized as our 6-building campus with 50+ bed sober-living beds. We held a Grand Opening to celebrate and took the opportunity to interview some of the attendees.

Brianne Davis is an actor, writer, director, podcaster, and a recovering sex and love addict. Brianne began her acting career in high school on Remember the Titans and Dawson's creek. After that, she starred in many more hit productions such as Jar Head, Lucifer, True Blood, The Mentalist, and many more. Over a decade ago, Brianne realized that she was a love and sex addict. Since then, she has embraced her recovery and written a book about it. She is continually raising awareness about sex and love addiction, which is why she is here with us today!

In this episode, we check in on Shane, an alumnus of Brighton, after 1 year of sobriety. Shane’s recovery story has had many ups and downs, but the growth that has come from it is truly inspiring.

Lisa's story begins in a remote Hawaiian paradise, but her life takes many unexpected turns. As an alumna of Brighton, Lisa has found community and belonging away from her Hawaiian home. In this episode of recovery soapbox, Clinical Director Garrett Cimino interviews two former interns at Brighton Recovery Center. Bri and Molly share their practicum experiences and provide some great advice for those also looking to complete their programs.

In this episode, Brady Kuan interviews Jake Knighton and Paul Price. All three of these individuals first came to Brighton Recovery for treatment and, after a year or two of sobriety, all three now work for Brighton. Many recovering addicts develop a desire to give back to the recovery community after treatment. Some even use their own experience to begin a career in addiction treatment. This can be an overwhelming goal because it’s not always clear where to start or how to proceed. Brady, Jake, and Paul give insider tips on how they accomplished this goal. They also talk about staying persistent, and certain pitfalls to watch out for. They discuss keeping your own recovery and working in recovery separate, along with the rewards and stresses of this career.

The first time we took our cameras to Recovery Day, a wonderful, free event for all ages, we knew we'd keep coming back! In this episode, you'll hear stories of triumph and hope from people ranging with just a few months of sobriety all the way up to 30 years. Their messages are inspiring and definitely worth a listen. This year at Recovery Day, things started off with the 5K Run for Recovery, followed by speakers, music, awards, activities, and lots of community support.
