September 14, 2017 Red Bull Rant 240: In the Fire’s Pit
Another road game, another game without a win, but at least the New York Red Bulls did not flat out lose to the Chicago Fire. It was a boring game though, so we won’t talk about it took much. Instead, we’ll look ahead to what should be a win (and is a must-win) game against the visiting Philadelphia Union. The Red Bulls will then travel to take on Sporting Kansas City in the Final of the 2017 US Open Cup. Can the Red Bulls finally win a knockout tournament or will a travelling Jason be sent home sad? All this and Jason experiencing Alexi Lalas’ hot fire on this week’s Red Bull Rant.

September 07, 2017 Red Bull Rant 239: Once Upon a Draw
A FC Dallas team who hasn’t won a game in their last seven? Getting to be up a man with over half of the game left to go? Scoring a goal right before halftime? All of that should lead to an easy win for the New York Red Bulls right? Well, no, this is the Red Bulls we are talking about. Blowing two leads in the same game to a ten man side seems to be par for the course somehow. Maybe the United States had a better time of...oh wait, no, they didn’t. Hopefully the Red Bulls can rebound when they travel to take on the Chicago Fire and face Dax McCarty for maybe the last time in 2017.

August 31, 2017 Red Bull Rant 238: Draw in the Devil’s Cauldron
What do the New York Red Bulls do with over 60% possession and over 20 shots on goal, at home? They end the game in a 1-1 draw. It’s a disappointing way to end the 2017 Hudson River Derby, but at least they got the US Open Cup win right?
The Red Bulls now have to turn their attention to a busy September, which includes a 5 game, 13 day stretch, including the US Open Cup final. Currently sitting at 5th in the East, can the Red Bulls possibly make a run at a top two finish, or at the very least, have home field advantage for the Wild Card round?

August 24, 2017 Red Bull Rant 237: The Greenhouse Effect
The second string wasn’t as hot as the starters, but that’s OK. No one expected a lot out of a team that had to play 120 minutes on Tuesday in Cincinnati and then another 90 in Portland on Friday. A 2-0 loss to the Portland Timbers in that situation is not unexpected. The team must now refocus its energy on their last regular season matchup against New York City FC. Can the New York Red Bulls pull out a home victory under the Friday Night Lights and work towards a better playoff position? Can NYC FC fans understand they don’t have a real stadium without having to travel 117 miles?

August 17, 2017 Red Bull Rant 236: Battle for the Cup of Gold
What a turnaround after that terrible NYC FC match. The New York Red Bulls hosted Orlando City in a game that started ugly, ended ugly, but was good enough in the middle for a 3-1 home win. There was a weird moment between Auerillin Collin and Kaka, but thankfully the Red Bulls didn’t have to deal with the fallout of it. After the win, they travelled to take on FC Cincinnati in the US Open Cup Semifinals, and it was almost a very bad night, but thankfully they pulled something out of the fire and lived to see the USOC finals. Can the Red Bulls keep it going though as they have a very short turnaround when they have to travel to a struggling Portland Timbers on Friday night.

Jason is back from the bakery, but Truman is out getting the band back together. It’s a shame because the New York Red Bulls have been rocking and rolling recently. Another good win, this time, 4-0 over the visiting Montreal Impact. The Red Bulls are on a good streak heading into Yankee Stadium and a matchup against New York City FC. Can the Red Bulls get a measure of revenge for a loss to NYC FC earlier in the season? We’ll find out in the third installment of the 2017 Hudson River Derby.

Another game, another convincing win for the Red Bulls, who find themselves winners of 5 games in a row in all competitions. With Jay away, Pat and Truman talk about their big 3-0 road win in Minnesota, find difficulty in disliking anything, but having plenty to be happy about. Then they go over the USMNT’s Gold Cup victory, and how Kenmar Lawrence is just a wonderful guy. In the dumping ground, talk of player moves, MLS shady dealings, and Sky Blue’s insane near comeback. July 20, 2017 Red Bull Rant 232: Kljestan Quakes
Who knew that the New York Red Bulls could score more than two goals during the run of play in a single game? I mean, it only took until the middle of July for it to happen. That was 18 MLS Games, 3 US Open Cup, and 2 Champions League games for those keeping score at home. At least it looks like the offense has picked up when games start mattering just a bit more when playoff position matters.
The United States Men’s National Team also showed they can still score, and incite some light violence from El Salvador in the meantime. Can the USMNT repeat the performance (minus the violence) when they take on Costa Rica in the 2017 Gold Cup Semifinals?

July 16, 2017 Red Bull Rant 231: The Invaders
What’s better than winning on the road against the New England Revolution? Doing it twice in a month, and one of them being in the US Open Cup. The New York Red Bulls now head to the USOC Semi-finals where they will face either Miami FC or FC Cincinnati and hope not to embarrass themselves against a non-MLS team.
In the meantime, the Red Bulls have a MLS match coming up against the San Jose Earthquakes. Will the Red Bulls be able to pack the house on a Wednesday night? No, because they never can on a Wednesday, but they are also playing on the same day that the United States Men’s National Team plays in the Gold Cup Quarterfinals.
