RED-C Roundup

On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, Pam Marvin spoke with Christopher Lafitte, counselor at St. Mary's Catholic Center in College Station, Texas. Christopher is part of a team of local Catholic clergy and laity who are bringing Bart and Bob Schuchts of the John Paul II Healing Center in Austin to College Station on November 2 and 3 for a Two-Day Equipping intended to help Catholics draw more powerfully and consistently on the grace and gifts of the Holy Spirit they have been given through the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, guest host Megan Silas invited Keith Comeaux, who is in the diaconate formation program for the Diocese of Austin, and his wife, Judy, to talk about the joys and struggles of discerning a call to the diaconate, accepting the discipline of the process, and growing closer to one another in their marriage through the call to holiness and prayer demanded of candidates. Enjoy the show, like RED-C Catholic Radio on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter at @REDCRadio. On Wednesday, September 5, 2018, Dcn. Mike Beauvais had a lively interview with Paul Gondreau, professor of theology at Providence College and author of an essay in the new collection from Catholic Answers, Inseperable: Five Perspectives on Sex, Life, and Love in Defense of Humanae Vitae. Part of RED-C's effort to mark and observe the fiftieth anniversary of Humanae Vitae, Prof. Gondreau joined the program to discuss why the teachings of Humanae Vitae can be defended and explained on philosophical grounds without recourse to scripture. Prof. Gondreau's spirited presentation of the document and the Church's moral voice are worth the listen. Enjoy the show, like RED-C Catholic Radio on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter at @REDCRadio. On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, Dcn. Mike Beauvais and Pam Marvin concluded their two-part analysis of the New Age movement based on the publication "Jesus, Water Bearer of Life" from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Especially useful in this regard are the questions the document provides that are useful in a self-assessment of beliefs and to use apologetically in conversation with a believer in New Age spirituality. The hosts also devoted significant time in the first portion of the show discussing recent allegations of priestly abuse and immorality in various parts of the country. On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, Gene Wilhelm welcomed Dcn. Dave Mayes from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station who is recently returned from making a pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Dcn. Dave gave a description of the experience, some insights into his spiritual state before and after the pilgrimage, and reflected on how he encountered God during his journey.  Enjoy the show, like RED-C Catholic Radio on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter at @REDCRadio.
