We decided for our first Last Orders of 2021 to review the shit-show of a year that was 2020.

For 2021 Dan and Jarrad have launched a new series of podcasts called State of the Union.

The episodes will be a fortnightly look at the U.K Trade Union Movement and we hope to bring you interviews with organisers about ongoing disputes, the political landscape within specific unions and hopefully bring you some practical ways to organise your workplaces and tackle issues facing workers up and down the country.

Our first episode is with GMB organiser Jake O’Malley and looks at #StopTheBritishGasFire, the complexities of organising in the midst of a pandemic and how the Trade Union movement must respond to a Tory Brexit.

It was an honour to have been joined by Jorge and Katerina from Hands Off Venezuela for our most recent episode. 

We try and give a chronological account of the Bolivarian revolution, debate Venezuela’s future and discuss the importance of the global left opposing imperialist involvement in the country’s affairs

A lot has happened in the world since the summer of 2019 when we witnessed the beginnings of a new worldwide climate justice movement. In this episode the guys chat about where that movement is today, where it has gone wrong and why you can’t solve climate change without dismantling capitalism. 

We are finally releasing our first ‘Last Orders' episode. We will be releasing one of these a month and it is just us chatting about whatever topic we fancy and having a drink whilst we do it.

For our third episode of our new series we had the absolute pleasure of interviewing Jose and Katerina from the Bolivia Solidarity Campaign.

A little longer than normal but we cover a lot of ground regarding Bolivia’s recent history from Evo Morales’ 2005 election victory, his time in office, the 2019 coup and then the recent landslide win for the MAS Party.

We try and define modern social democracy, what its core problems are and what distinguishes us as socialists. We also, ironically given our emergency pod earlier this week, discuss whether it is beneficial for socialists to engage with and be active within social democratic parties.
