Red Star over Oklahoma episodes

  • 38 What's Gonna Happen?
This week we talk about Trump's terrible decision to bomb Syria again, glimpses of socialism coming from the UK's Labour Party, and discuss what might happen with the teacher walkout. Additionally, we read an article from Oklahoma's own Alex Jones: The Oklahoman.
Like every week, we've got a well formatted, filled with links post on our subreddit, available here: https://www.reddit.com/r/redstaroveroklahoma/comments/8clxjy/38_whats_gonna_happen/

  • 37 Lofi Red Star
This week we have a super special lofi episode, as Parker had to record from a Starbucks (you'll find out why) and Carl was the week's producer.
We announce our new corporate sponsors, discuss some scientific evidence that proves we've been right about politics the whole time, and talk--you guessed it--about the #OklahomaTeacherWalkout. Additionally, we read about the horrors of wind energy.
As always, links to events, Facebook pages, and some of the articles we used to write the show are available at the reddit post for the episode: https://www.reddit.com/r/redstaroveroklahoma/comments/8ayp91/37_lofi_red_star/
If you're at the walkout, why not tell some people to check us out?

  • 36 Get Striking!
This week, we read people making almost socialist argument in the New York Times, the real boys in the HUD call in to the show, and we discuss the trash the state legislature thinks they should be thanked for passing.
Oh, and we found a new rag to hate on: the Tulsa Beacon, Oklahoma's dumber newspaper.
As always, we've got links to a bunch of stuff here on the reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/redstaroveroklahoma/comments/88y1jc/36_get_striking/
Go help the strike! It doesn't really matter how. Just go help, in whatever way you can. And while you're at it: tell your friends about the show and give us a rating on iTunes!

  • 35 "Brown Shit On The Oklahoman"
This week Parker was out due to sickness. :(
We cover John Bolton moving into the White House with the express goal of starting world war 3, how the Austin bombings let us see the disgusting double standards for white terrorists and black victims happen in real time, massive tax breaks for oil companies, and the Oklahoma Supreme Court's approval of the GPT ballot question.
And if you can't tell from the title, we read a real waste of column space from The Oklahoman.
As always, everything is available in the show's reddit post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/redstaroveroklahoma/comments/8781ha/35_brown_shit_on_the_oklahoman/
Don't forget to rate and review us on iTunes, but most importantly: go find a way to help with the strike! It's imminent!

  • 34 Immigration Intersections and Insurgent Educators
This week we cover two national stories about immigration, lay out demands for the teachers' strike (joined now by state employees), and interview Larry Cagle, a teacher from TPS and organizer with Oklahoma Teachers United. It's dope.
As always, we've got everything linked to and written out for y'all at the reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/redstaroveroklahoma/comments/842q6o/34_immigration_intersections_and_insurgent/
Rate and review us, and tell your friends! But most importantly: start helping in whatever way you can with the strike!

  • Special Edition: GCDSA Candidate Forum
Presenting our special edition of the show: the live recording of the Candidate Forum put on by Green Country DSA. We would like to thank GCDSA for the opportunity to facilitate and record the event. We would also like to thank all the candidates and audience members who came out to the event. Additionally, we would like to think Dream Act Tulsa and Aware Tulsa for being coalition partners and submitting questions to the forum.
We were able to get a quality recording for most of the event, but unfortunately, some of the candidates’ answers did not record properly. I have included in the description of this episode the exact times and descriptions of all candidates answers and whether the recording has been damaged. I apologize for the inconvenience, and as we move forward, the quality of recording events like these will only improve! Thank you again to all who participated in this experience, and I hope you enjoy the episode.

  • 32 Bringing Back Black Lung
This week we cover the return of industrial era diseases, America's continued legacy of racism in home policy, rural hospital woes, and continue a story we reported on last week: the possibility of a teachers' strike.
We'd like to plug the GCDSA Candidate Forum this week as we're helping host it! Adam and Parker will both be there. If you're gonna be in the Tulsa metro next weekend, come meet them and question your possible future representatives! And if you can't make it, we'll make sure it's here in your podcast feed sometime soon.
Links to the events and some of the articles from the episode this week are all available on the reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/redstaroveroklahoma/comments/80c812/32_bringing_back_black_lung/
