Welcome to week two of our Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month coverage as we treat ourselves to the wonderful world of Studio Ghibli, in what will certainly not be the last time we take a bite out of Hayao Miyazaki's monumental contribution to cinema. We will take many bites. We will turn into pigs. Our selection this time around features an OG (though debatably not Ghibli) Miyazaki film with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, along with the award winning Spirited Away, and the questionable follow up of Howl's Moving Castle. Join us as we gawk over food that should not look that good animated, gush over cute a.f. spirit creatures, and try to stop all wars and heal that planet. We're kicking this month off ~kind of~ with our auteur series, featuring our first ever analysis of an Academy Award winning Best Picture film in our pod history: Bong Joon-ho's Parasite. Oh, and also Snowpiercer. Which was definitely not in the running for any awards but hey, Cap gets to use an axe, so technically this is foreshadowing Stormbreaker. Kind of. At least we're not watching Okja. Hi everyone, thank you so much for listening the past few months! We're pooped, so we're going to be taking the month of April off to recuperate and give TJ a break from editing massive tournaments that he brought upon himself. We're excited for you all to see what we have planned for the rest of the year, namely an AAPI centered month of May featuring major contributions from Korean, Japanese, and Chinese filmmakers. Can't wait to get back at it, but we really need to sleep!

RED TEAM: ASSEMBLE! The whole crew from when we all worked at [redacted] and became THE Red Team is here: Cat Patterson (featured in our Disney Remakes episode), Anna Gundersen, and Alison Campbell join us for our version of March Madness. TJ has created a tournament pitting iconic, obscure, and overall beloved Disney songs against each other in order to determine the “objective” best of them all. He’s been working so hard to make this tournament, partially because it’s an interesting idea, but really it’s because he just wants to watch the world burn. Check out part one where we go through the qualifier rounds and the early stages of the bracket! Hearts are broken, rivalries are formed, and TJ tries unsuccessfully to get these peaky millennials to check their nostalgic biases at the door.
