Jakub Vrana leads the Red Wings, Oskar Sundqvist, and Jake Walman to victory in their first game after the trade deadline.

Steve Yzerman had a busy trade deadline, making two significant deals, not including their movement of Troy Stecher for a 7th Round Pick.

The Detroit Red Wings also traded Nick Leddy to the St. Louis Blues for a 2023 2nd Round Pick, Oskar Sundqvist and Jake Walman. This one we’re calling a Yzerplan fleece.

Leddy leaves the Red Wings after being traded to the Red Wings for a 2nd Round Pick from the New York Islanders. Steve Yzerman gets that 2nd round picks back and picks up a left-side defenseman in Jake Walman and a solid bottom-six forward from Oskar Sundqvist.

In the final trade of the day, Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings sent Vladislav Namestnikov to Dallas for a 4th round pick.

What does it mean for the Red Wings that Tyler Bertuzzi and Filip Zadina were not moved at the deadline? Is there not enough of a market or is Yzerman happy with the development of his core?

The Red Wings retooled their roster and sent out a winning formula to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers, 6-3. Jakub Vrana had 2 goals, Tyler Bertuzzi had 3 points. 6 Red Wings had multi-point games and 11 had at least one point.
