Why are our leaders setting us up for failure? Which ones are aware of the trap, and which ones are merely following the language of the crowd? As we continue to ask the question of When is Violence moral, if ever, we recognize that we are running on the edge of a razor between two devastating outcomes. Be it incarceration. failure, or damnation, we are not ignorant fools playing with fire, but something like Prometheus in the contemporary age, with the warning not going unnoticed. 

A Priori and A Posteriori are terms familiar to those who regularly engage with rigorous philosophy, and for good reason. Although primarily and epistemic question, the findings we conclude echo through what we believe about morality, responsibility, and violence. 

A Priori: Knowledge that is justified without empirical evidence/experience. 
A Posteriori: Knowledge that is justified by observation/evidence/experience. 

So, in this case, is there a reason why almost all of our examples for justifying being capable of violence based on the potential future of an attack?

The proliferation of Suppressors across the broader reaches of what we call Gun Culture may serve as counter to the doom-sayers of the Second Amendment. While we observe and react to the continuous stream of infringements and proposals of such, as more and more people take interest in the availability and benefits of Suppressors, we see it grow more and more entrenched in normalcy.

Jake Kunsky has lived on the other side of that veil we call the Gun Store, observing and participating in not only the development of physical products, but abstract concepts as well. His influence is visible, for those who know what to look for.

Better to have it and not Need it, then to Need it and not Have it. 

This simple justification may work in a pinch, but in the long run it leaves us open to attack. The concept of justification goes deeper than circumstantial evidence when we consider morality. There must be more than conditions, imperatives must come from somewhere. 

By grounding our moral justification in a shallow condition as need, we set ourselves up for the destruction of our so-called rights.

Motivation, Meaning, and Purpose stand out in the 21st Century as missing from society. On the one hand, this may be the problem our era faces, and on the other, it appears to be timeless. As subjects that draw charlatans like flies, we try to navigate the difficulties of the subject with some delicacy, recognizing pitfalls along the way.

If it were only so easy to come to a conclusion on Monday, and be satisfied for the remainder of one's life, we wouldn't be here. Instead, work must be done daily to pursue all three.

One method of answering the question of purpose is to look at natural law: what is it that we were created for. A phenomena arises: it may be easier to give the answer to a crowd, than to one's self in the quiet moments in-between.

One of the pleasures of engaging with Philosophy, is that it nearly requires one to read the old texts. There's a reason we so often go back to the Greeks, and it's not always that we understand them to be correct. Whether it's the good works that survive history because they are so good, or that the Iliad and the Odyssey provide such an excellent landscape to explore various moral arguments, we find the motivations of one protagonist to illuminate the difference between the why and the how of violence.

Luke Brown brings a conversation that moves beyond the disappointment we may face when observing a Gun Culture that is less than what we want it to be, and with an attitude that encourages us all to do better.

The idea that there is no such thing as evil has historically remained an uncommon belief. Call it a privileged one if you will, but that alone is not sufficient in making an argument one way or another. The existence of evil perplexes in ways beyond the intellect. 

How we think about evil will determine how we approach it, and our conclusions will make demands of us, so tread lightly. 

Racism, Activism, Human Suffering, the Problem of Evil, are just a few ways of entering into the conversation, one that exists both on the surface, and deep below.

Picking up where we left off, we start again with a conversation on Multiculturalism, from our differing and aligning perspectives. The Gun Industry has changed what it means to be a typical Gun Owner.

Multiculturalism remains a sensitive touchpoint in a world that is getting smaller through technology, and as a result, the stakes are high and will no go away. We are regularly being made aware of the cost of war, unless we deliberately seek to avoid it. And the cause of conflict must not be oversimplified, lest we start down the path of dehumanization.
