Message Notes
I . EVERY CHRISTIAN CAN EXPERIENCE A FULL, ABUNDANT, AND MEANINGFUL LIFE
(JN. 14:12-14)
A . The Christian life is a paradox. It is simple and difficult.
1. It is so simple that we stumble over its simplicity.
2. It is so difficult because it is a supernatural life that only Christ can live it.
B . The secret of the Christian life is to walk daily in the power of the Holy Spirit and allow the Lord Jesus to live his abundant life within us in all His resurrection power.
(Acts 4:13; Gal 2:20)
C . Even Christians have problems but can freely cast them all on the Lord Jesus Christ
(I Peter 5:7).
II. BE SURE THAT YOU ARE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
A . The average Christian fails to draw on the power of the Holy Spirit to live the Christian life.
B . “Spiritual breathing” will enable us to get off the spiritual and emotional roller coaster and enjoy the abundant Christian life Jesus promised.
(Jn. 10:10)
1. Exhale by confessing our sins.
(I Jn. 1:9)
2. Inhale by appropriating the fullness of God’s Spirit by faith.
(Eph. 5:18; 1Jn. 5:14-15; 2 Cor. 5:7; Lk. 11:13).
III. BE PREPARED FOR SPIRITUAL BATTLES
A . Three forces wage war against the believer.
1. The world.
(1 Jn. 2:15-17; 1 Jn 5:19; Jn. 16:33)
2. The flesh.
(Gal. 5:17; Gal. 5:16)
3. The devil.
(Peter 5:8; Jn. 10:10; 1 Jn. 4:4b; Col. 2:15; Heb. 2:14- 15; Rev. 20:10, Eph:10-18)
IV. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A CHILD OF GOD
A . Jesus Christ, in all His resurrection power, actually lives within every Christian through the power of the Holy Spirit.
(Rom. 8; Eph. 1:19-23; Col. 1:27-2:10)
B . We are weak in our own strength but strong in Christ.
(II Cor. 12:9-10; II Tim. 1:7; Phil. 2:12-13, 4:13; Jn. 15:5)
C . The resurrection power of Christ is available to every Christian to help carry out the Great Commission of our Lord.
(Matt. 28:18-20;Jn. 15:8; Acts 1:8)
D. As we learn of and draw upon the power of the Holy Spirit, we will desire more and more to do God’s will and take greater joy and pleasure in it.
(Phil. 2:12-13)
V. LIVE BY FAITH
A . We do not live by sight or emotions but by faith.
(Heb. 11:6; II Cor.5:7; Col. 2:6)
B . As Christians, the object of our faith is God and His Word.
(Heb.11:6; II Tim 3:16-17; Rom. 8:28)
C . Rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks in all circumstances demonstrates faith.
(I Thess. 5:16-18)
D. Breathe spiritually when you recognize that you are living in your own power and appropriate the fulness of the Spirit by faith, believing that God has fill you according to his command and promise.
