What does it mean to simply receive the love and grace of Jesus? In “Receive His Love,” the second week of our Life with Jesus: The Everyday Faith Journey series, we meet Zacchaeus in Luke 19:1–10, a man who was seen as a sinner and outsider, but whom Jesus saw, sought, welcomed, and saved. On this Reformation Sunday, his story reminds us of the heart of the Gospel rediscovered by the Reformers…our relationship with God is not something we earn or achieve—it is a gift of grace we receive through faith.

What does it mean to grow as a follower of Jesus? The Christian life is more than believing the right things, attending church, or trying harder to be a good person. It is a lifelong journey of being formed by Jesus. And that journey begins not with what we do for him, but with what he has already done for us. We will explore Jesus’ powerful teaching in John 15:9-17 together. Anxiety has become one of the defining struggles of our time. We worry about our families, our health, our finances, and the future. What do you treasure most? Success, security, reputation, possessions? In this week’s message, “Nothing Compares”, the apostle Paul declares that everything else pales in comparison to knowing Jesus Christ. Once proud of his religious accomplishments, Paul gladly counted them as loss for the surpassing worth of Christ. Join us as explore Philippians 3:1–14, 20–21 and we discover that lasting joy is found not in what we achieve or possess, but in the Savior who has claimed us as his own.

Our world tells us that joy comes from getting ahead, being recognized, and putting ourselves first. Jesus teaches just the opposite. In “The Upside-Down Way to Joy”. As we explore Philippians 2:1–18, we'll discover that lasting joy is found not in self-promotion but in self-giving love. As Paul points us to the humility and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we learn that the path to true greatness—and true joy—is the way of serving others.

Life doesn't always feel joyful. We all face setbacks, disappointments, uncertainty, and suffering. Yet from a Roman prison cell, the apostle Paul writes one of the most joy-filled letters in all of Scripture. As we begin our new series, Joy in the Lord: A Walk Through Philippians, we'll discover an “Unshakable Joy”. In Philippians 1:1–6, 12–26, we will learn that lasting joy isn't found in favorable circumstances but in Jesus Christ. When our lives are rooted in him, the gospel gives us a joy that remains steady through every season of life.

The beauty of raising children in God’s Kingdom is that it is a great lesson in organized chaos! We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, and yet our lives as children are messy. They start messy and they stay that way for much of our lives as we struggle with our humanity in the face of God’s divinity. The story of Jesus at the temple as a preteen, would-be rabbi is both brutally honest and pragmatically helpful. Join us as we see Jesus at work as a divine child in a human family and as we learn to perceive our own children as God perceives them: his deeply loved (and imperfect) human creatures!
