A new year raises questions about purpose and direction. Epiphany answers them not by turning us inward, but by lifting our eyes to the God already at work in the world through Jesus. Today we begin a new series, Manifesting Messiah, with a sermon titled “Manifesting Destiny.” Our scripture focus is Matthew 2:1–12, where the magi follow the star and discover that God’s purposes are bigger than our fears and more generous than we imagine. On this first Sunday of 2026, Epiphany invites us to trust the God who reveals his plan in Jesus and calls us to live for the praise of his glorious grace.

The beauty of Christmas is that, in reality, it is so very personal. Not only did Jesus come in the flesh to grow up and give his life for our sins, but he came to bring to the whole world his “sonship.” What’s your relationship with God like, here on the cusp of a new year? Do you feel like you know this God, who through your faith in Jesus has made you his son, or daughter? There’s nothing like the closeness we can have with God through faith in Jesus; it’s closer than any human father can be. As we count down to 2026, let’s explore the life-changing question, “Who’s your Abba?”

In Isaiah 7:14, a reluctant king is given a surprising sign—a virgin will conceive and bear a son called Immanuel, God with us. That promise comes to life in Mary’s womb and Joseph’s confusion. God steps right into the clutter and chaos of our world to bring peace that lasts. Advent invites us to make room for him—not after the mess is gone, but right in the middle of it.

As Christmas (Without the Crazy) continues, we learn that joy isn’t waiting for us at the end of the road—it’s found along the way. In Isaiah 35:1-10, deserts burst into bloom and weary travelers sing for joy as they journey home. Jesus tells John’s disciples that the blind see and the lame walk—God’s joy is already breaking into our world. Even in weary seasons, joy grows when we walk with the One who goes before us.

Pastor Tim offers a devotion on the O Antiphon for Advent that is a cry to God for wisdom from on high. The devotion is based 1 Corinthians 1:18-30.

The second week of Christmas (Without the Crazy) invites us to step out of December’s clamor and into God’s calm. In Isaiah 11:1-10, a shoot springs from the stump of Jesse and ushers in a peace so complete that wolves and lambs live side by side. John the Baptist’s voice echoes that same peace, crying out in the wilderness to prepare the way of the Lord. True peace begins not in perfect circumstances, but when we quiet our hearts to hear God’s voice above the noise.
