Jesus promises His followers peace in the midst of persecution and a joy no one can take away. Since these promises are grounded in His death and resurrection, we should seek our joy in who He is, what He's done, and what He's promised.

The Holy Spirit is all about making much of Jesus, convicting the

God created all human beings to be his worshippers. But as fallen sinners we have corrupted this part of our nature, so God has lovingly instructed his people how to worship him through Christ. He rejects anything outside of this design.

Christians have been chosen out of the world to bear witness about Jesus to a world in opposition to Him. Christians should therefore expect opposition and must be willing to endure being disliked, hated, and even persecuted for the cause of Christ.

True believers abide/remain in Christ and he abides in them as their power source. This mutual abiding results in the bearing of much fruit, which certainly includes answered prayer, joy regardless of one's circumstances, a robust love for the brethren, and evangelical zeal even in the face of persecution.

Jesus promises to send

Jesus comforts troubled hearts by reminding us who He is, what He's accomplished for us, what He has in store for us, and with great optimism, the mission He has for us.

Jesus laid down His life for His Church and calls His followers to do the same. As such, we are to follow Christ in laying down our lives by sacrificially serving our brothers and sisters in Christ, whereby we most clearly demonstrate to the world that we are Christ's disciples.

God is passionate for His glory. Jesus came and died to bring glory to the Father and thus those who have been redeemed ought to live for His glory and not their own.

Jesus laid down his life, so that he might bear much fruit in saving many for all eternity. Just as Jesus our master laid down his life for us, he calls us to follow in His footsteps and die to our selfish desires and faithfully serve Him in all we do regardless of the cost.
