Redeemer Rockford Students

Student Ministry Intern Gabe Whittaker preaches on the 9th command "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor". What does this command mean? does it only apply to a court of law? Why is it so important for today and are we violating this command? All these questions are answered in God's word as we look at the law and the gospel and their application to us today.

Am I a thief? Most people live by and are okay with the command "Thou Shall Not Steal" but does this only apply to robbers? What does it mean to obey this command? I pray that this sermon challenges the way you think about theft and ultimately points you to your need for a savior who was crucified between 2 thieves.

What is adultery and why does god take it so seriously? Out of all the commands in God's moral law this one hits home for many living in our hyper-sexualized culture. How do we navigate the cultures blatant rejection of God's design for sex and marriage? How do we battle sexual temptation? How can I come out of the grips of sexual sin? The typical response by American evangelicals is to point students to the law and performance based self-discipline, when the law's main function in to point them to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I hope this sermon is informative and encouraging to you.

"I'm a good person... I mean I'm not as bad as the murderer". We hear this all the time from people but is that really true? From God's perspective is this the case? In our morally confusing age this topic of preserving life is vital for the church to embrace and be vocal about. God is the creator and sustainer of life and He calls His people to be those who champion human life.
