Knowing that God will judge the secrets of men’s hearts, we must fear God and keep His commandments, having our lives shaped by God’s Word, which has been given by the One Shepherd, who is Jesus Christ.

Life is short and uncertain so seize the day by investing in Christ’s kingdom and enjoying life in him both now and evermore.

Earthly wisdom can be of blessing to the wise person and godly wisdom leads to everlasting blessedness while earthly foolishness can lead to great harm for a person and those around him, as well as ending in everlasting destruction.

In a world in which death is indiscriminate and often sudden, believers, comforted by knowing that they are in God’s hand, need to rejoice in the simple pleasures that God has provided, working heartily at whatever they put their hands to while they are still alive, certain that our labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Practice righteousness and use wisdom but know your limits and don’t trust your practices: trust Christ.

In an unpredictable world filled with wickedness and oppression, a world in which everyone is cursed to return to dust, Christians can still be joyful and generous, resting in the good purposes of a sovereign God, who, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, has assured us that dust is not our final destiny.

Pleasure, wisdom and work don’t satisfy when sought yet God gives enjoyment to those who are right with him through faith in Jesus Christ.

When this life is looked at without taking God into the picture, life is absolutely futile, without any ultimate gain from a life of ceaseless toil. Only through Christ can this curse of futility, brought on by human rebellion, be reversed.
