1 Peter 4:12-19

Suffering is a part of the Christian journey. This may shock or surprise us, but it’s no less than what we are told to expect in the Scriptures. Listen in today as we consider 1 Peter 4:12-19 and think on God’s purpose in such suffering.

Esther 2:19-23

Esther is queen; now what? Life goes on. Mordecai is raised to a place of official capacity for the king, and in this, he overhears some of the king’s close officials making plans to assassinate the king. What reward will the king give to this one who has saved his life? For a time, none. But God has placed Mordecai where he needs to be and is working all things out for his glory and his people’s good. Listen in today as we continue the story of Esther.

Esther 2:12-18

The royal edict has gone forth that the king is looking for a new queen. As young women are taken from all around the kingdom, what will become of Esther, one of God’s people? How will she succeed in a foreign land? Listen in today as we continue to reflect on God’s providential care for his people in the story of Esther.

The king feasts and celebrates the greatness of his empire, but things are not all great in his kingdom. As he summons his wife and queen to come before him to entertain him, he is instead met with a humiliating refusal. So, there’s only one thing to do: gather the men and decree a law that she must be removed. Listen in today as we continue the drama of God working in the “ordinary” lives of people.

Esther 1:1-9

The King of the Persians and Medes may have had all the marks of impressiveness in this world in wealth and displays of that wealth. Yet he is not the final authority on things powerful.
