while the Bible never condemns riches or wealth, it certainly condemns the abuse of them and the unjust gain of wealth. James does not water down his message to appease the wealthy, but instead call out their sin and call them to repent before God lest they come under his judgement for their sins.

It is easy for us to make plans while forgetting that we are not ultimately in control of the future. We ought to remind ourselves often that while it is right to plan, all of our planning should be done with humility before a Holy and Sovereign God.

In this sermon we look at the second cure to the problem of worldliness which is “resist the devil and he will flee from you”. James gives clear commands to Christians and also a wonderful promise which is rooted in the faithfulness of God Himself.

We continue in our study through James 4, looking at the problem of worldliness and the cure found in the grace of God and through coming to Him in humility and repentance. Though sin is a relentless evil, we praise God that He has given it’s cure in the Lord Jesus Christ.
