Pastor Jason Mayhall leads Redemption Bible Church in its series entitled "Identity Theft." Pastor Jason explains the different aspects of prayer as part of his review of Ephesians 3. When we pray, we are talking to our Father and that we can always expect one of three answers. All three responses can change us, as can the act of praying itself. Prayer can help keep us from grumbling and gossiping and, instead, give us a great sense of comfort and encouragement.

This week, Redemption Bible Church continues the sermon series entitled "Identity Theft," led by Greg Huffer. Using Ephesians 3, together with selections from Romans and Acts, it is explained how the Apostle Paul sees his mission as reaching the Gentiles with the Gospel. Through this, we see God's deep love for both Israel and the Gentiles. All of us are members of God's family. We are all the people of God, if we come to Him in faith.

In Ephesians 2, Pastor Jason points out the illustration that humans are predisposed to lift up our own strengths and use them as a basis from which to look down on other people. The sin in our heart and in our nature leads us to build these walls between us and others. This can, at times, manifest as a belief that we are right and everyone who isn't like us is wrong. It is these conflicts that can cause us to be separated from Jesus. Paul is saying that when Jesus died on the cross, we need to recognize that He removed every barrier between humans and God. We have been reconciled to God, even though we are all sinners, and try to rebel against God. Thanks to Jesus we, as Christians, are all seen as equal children of God and given this common identity. We need to place more value in what we have in common, rather than what might make us different. Through this we can set an example for everyone on how to live in spiritual unity and serve God.

Pastor Jason Mayhall leads Redemption Bible Church in the celebration of Valentine's Day with a look at Ephesians 2. This is a part of the sermon series entitled "Identity Theft." Pastor Jason points out we all enjoy good rescue stories, perhaps because in life we are all in need of being rescued. It is when we recognize this that we will start to see ourselves and the world in a different way. We have all been rescued from God's wrath. We are all sinners and have to rely on something other than ourselves and our acts for salvation to be saved. The fact that we have been saved is not of our own doing - Jesus saved us and it is through his work that we are capable of accomplishing good works in God's name. His rescue of us frees us to love and serve those around us.

Pastor Jason challenges us to look at the blessings we've been granted by God. Do we think we have received them because we are unique and special, and therefore deserving of such rewards? Or do we receive these blessing because we belong to an amazing God? Through this teaching, we learn about three important blessings: We have been chosen by God, we have been redeemed by the Son, and we have been sealed by the Holy Spirit.

This week, as we mark the one-year anniversary from our very first official meeting, Pastor Jason Mayhall teaches where Paul refers to the people of Ephesus as "saints." Pastor Jason talks about how we are not perfect, we're all still sinners, but we're also so much more than that. Our identity cannot just be that of a sinner. We, as humans, can change. We can be obedient, and endure temptation and persecution. If we follow the path of Christ, we are in Paul's words "saints." We are redeemed.

Redemption Bible Church continues the new series entitled "Identity Theft," finding who we are in Christ. In this teaching, Pastor Jason Mayhall examines the start of the Book of Ephesians with a look at how we, as humans, have two paths we can follow. We can choose to follow the sinful nature we were born into, an example set by Adam in the Bible, or we can choose to follow the example set by Jesus Christ. Our identity comes from whichever path we choose. Pastor Jason talks about how when we seek to take control of things in our lives, we're following the path of Adam. Instead, we need to acknowledge what Scripture put forward in John 15, that Jesus is the vine and we, as people, are the branches.

How would you describe yourself? I am rich. I am poor. I'm loved. I'm hated. I'm single. I'm married. I'm divorced. I'm successful. I'm a failure. The question is belief revealing and identity forming. How we see ourselves is our identity. You aren't what's been done to you BUT what Jesus has done for you. You aren't what you do BUT what Jesus has done. Who do you think you are? Where do we even start to answer that enormous question? Let's ask a different question: Who does God say that you are? Redemption Bible Church celebrates the New Year with Pastor Jason Mayhall leading from John 18. Pastor Jason teaches about how the Bible is not just a black and white rule book for moral behavior. More broadly, a life spent focused solely on morality, be it our own or the morality of others, will always fail as it is too narrowly defined and misses the broader meaning of the Gospel. However we, as humans, find this lifestyle easy to adopt because we are comfortable when things are clear cut. Knowing what to expect can cause us to avoid the more difficult questions around who and what we are looking for, but we miss the salvation only found through Jesus.

Pastor Jason Mayhall concludes the Christmas season’s series, “When Love Came Down,” at Redemption Bible Church. In Matthew 1, Mary is found to be pregnant with baby Jesus. Joseph considers a quiet divorce before he is visited by an angel who instructs him to be patient and obey God’s will. Pastor Jason reminds us that something important to remember is that God sees us as He saw Joseph; He knows us, and is with us. Even when life is difficult and things are unclear or unknown, God is with us. God will save us from our sins, and we need to be obedient to Him. We all matter in the eyes of God. As the Christmas season comes to an end, some questions we need to consider are: Are we allowing God to be with us? Are we obeying God’s commands? Are we being patient and looking toward Jesus as the example for how we should behave?
