Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.

In contrast to the world’s promises of fullness of life now, the Bible points us beyond this life to live in light of the next. Christ will return and our eternity will be spent in either heaven or hell.

Jesus ascends to heaven and leaves the church with a mission. The mission to make disciples. Throughout the book of Acts we see the clear pattern – gospel is preached, opposition comes, people are saved.

The church is no accident of history but lies at the centre of God’s work in the world. We dare not neglect the bride of Christ. It is not a building but the assembly of God’s people expressing the character of God.

The person and work of Jesus Christ is not merely a historical event to know about but an event to respond to. And that way is repentance and faith.

Here lies the other side of the coin of salvation. In this sermon we look at both the evidence of the resurrection and all its vast achievements for us.
