When thinking about difficult times in the world, the Psalmist declared, "The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice!" Tough times often make us feel an array of emotions: fear, panic, anger, despair. But we who follow Jesus have an eternal hope – Our God Reigns Forever! This doesn't mean we withdraw. Rather, it means we can engage this world, but with joy rather than fear! We have a tendency to think of life and history as cyclical. Good always follows bad, and the bad always follows good. Throughout the Bible, though, there are stories that follow a different pattern. One of Life – Death – Resurrection. As we'll learn from Ruth, followers of Christ are called to embrace the downward path, not to push against it or worry about it.

In a world that swirls with a constant stream of information - truth and lies, rumor and fact, always with a spin - it is difficult to discern what is good and true. The Apostle John encourages us in this text to press hard into discerning truth.

After completing an 18-month Church Planting Residency, he moved to his hometown, Mexico City, in February 2014. He lives there with his wife Karla and four kids: Joel, Luciana, Sophia, and Caleb. They have worked to plant a church in the heart of Mexico City. In January 2016 Doxa, Iglesia Cristiana, held its first public services. Since then, people have been saved and baptized, a new community has formed, and the gospel is bearing fruit in Mexico City through them. Pastor Jesús updated us on the work in Mexico City and Doxa. He preached from John 10:1-21. In this text, we see that Jesus is the Good Shepherd, who laid His life down for His sheep. It shows us the beauty and inclusivity of the gospel.
