Badger is back from Tenerife this week, and somehow a holiday story ends with four e-scooters doing 25km/h on a motorway. We catch up on what we’ve been at, Dan finally makes the jump from a Logitech to a MOZA R5, and somehow get sidetracked into toll booth disasters, aquaplaning on the motorway and some questionable public toilet stories.
Then we get into the actual car chat, are people far too obsessed with horsepower? We talk 300+ bhp PD130s, massively overpowered road cars, how much power you can realistically use in Ireland and why a slower car can sometimes be a lot more fun. We also give a small update on plans for our own Cars & Coffee and, as usual, end up going down a few completely unrelated rabbit holes along the way.
Let us know what you think, how much horsepower is actually enough for a road car?

This week we’re joined by Cathal from Next Gen Trades Ireland to talk about the huge shortage of skilled tradespeople in Ireland, apprenticeships, getting into the motor trade and why a trade can open far more doors than people realise.
We also get into Cathal’s own background in the car scene, some of the rare Japanese cars he’s owned over the years, Group D, how Irish car culture has changed, whether social media has killed some of the creativity in modified cars, and plenty more along the way.
A slightly different episode for us this week, but a really enjoyable conversation about cars, careers and the future of the trades in Ireland.
Check out Next Gen Trades Ireland for more information on opportunities and pathways into the trades.

This week, we finally start rating your cars after getting far more submissions than we expected.
We go through everything from E11 Corollas and Nissan Bluebirds to S-chassis, Subarus and some properly unusual builds, while trying to decide what deserves a place near the top of our new rating system.
We also talk about fake Recaros, cheap wheels, why brakes are often ignored when people chase more power, the lost art of the €200 field car and whether buying an IS200 now makes more sense than spending serious money on an AE86.
There’s also some honest advice on apprenticeships, working in mechanics and whether turning your hobby into a job can ruin it.
Let us know what you think of the new car-rating section!

This week, we’re talking about why buying the newest registration doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting the best car, and why condition, specification and service history matter far more than the number on the plate.
Dan gives an update on the Amarok and what could replace it, with everything from a PS13 to an AE86 entering the conversation. We also discuss the essentials of a genuinely good daily driver, including automatic gearboxes, leather seats, cruise control, Apple CarPlay and, most importantly, a proper armrest.
Elsewhere, a 3.1 Trooper has a very bad day, we introduce the idea of rating listeners’ cars, discuss a potential collaboration with Limited Slip Differences and share an update on the first Redline Republic car meet.
As always, plenty of questionable opinions, unnecessary tangents and allegedly useful automotive advice.
Send us a photo of your car through Instagram or TikTok for a chance to have it featured in a future episode.

We also dive into K11 Micras, Starlets, MX-5s, modern performance cars, hybrid technology, why so many new cars seem to be losing their identity, and whether manufacturers have completely forgotten how to design a good-looking car.
As always, we work our way through your comments, answer your questions, and somehow end up discussing insurance, conspiracy theories, and the future of the Irish car scene.

We also talk about buying your first car, building vs buying modified cars, Snap-On tool debt, CB radios, and plenty more along the way.
As always, expect plenty of opinions, questionable takes, and the usual automotive tangents.
Let us know your thoughts in the comments:
