Reel Comic Heroes

We've reached the end of the original Apes series. The franchise has gone crazy places since Taylor (Charlton Heston) first set foot on the shores of the Forbidden Zone. We've seen Cornelius and Zira (McDowell and Hunter) start as intellectuals and then become fugitives. We finally met Caesar - the ape who defied his masters and led a revolution.

Now, in Battle for the Planet of the Apes, we see Caesar balance two societies; his Ape brethren, and the humans who serve them.

Join us next time for Live and Let Die as we meet a new James Bond again for the first time.

Welcome back, Citizens. We're back and ready to talk about one of our two loves on this show; Apes and James Bond. This week it's Apes.

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is a straight-forward, dark tale of Caesar rising up from obedient servitude to revolutionary hero.

Join us next time for our last Apes movie for quite a while, Battle For the Planet of the Apes

Welcome back, Citizens. Patrick and Travis are back to weigh in on some upcoming films. First up is the Comic-Con trailer for Deadpool which looks really fun and different than any movie we've seen so far. Then we get into the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War (spoilers - we also discuss events leading up to Civil War in the comics). Lastly, we talk about a surprising new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Just like Sean Connery returning to the role of 007, Patrick and Travis have also returned to the world of James Bond. This episode is all about keeping track of where the diamonds have gotten to in 1971s Diamonds Are Forever.

This movie was rather bittersweet for us. On one hand we're looking forward to seeing where Roger Moore will go with Bond, and on the other hand, we wish Connery would have gone out with a little more impact.

Join us next time as we see what trouble the Apes have gotten themselves into with Conquest of the Planet of the Apes

Greetings Citizens. We had a lot of fun with this one. We finally got to see what it would be like for our simian heroes to be stuck in 1973s America. The tables are turned in Escape From the Planet of the Apes when Zira and Cornelius along with genius ape, Dr. Milo arrive on planet Earth of the past. They quickly learn what Taylor went through when he crash landed in their own time.

'Escape From' is a return to form for a franchise that, we found, was lacking in the previous installment. Let us know what you thought of the movie.

Join us next time for our triumphant return to the world of 007 in Diamonds Are Forever

Why hide it? We did not enjoy Beneath the Planet of the Apes. But we did have fun talking about it. Check out our review of the movie and find out what we did like about the movie, as well as what we could have done without.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes follows the journey of another astronaut, Brent, on a rescue mission to find Taylor. While Brent searches for Taylor, with help from Nova, Cornelius and Zira, the Ape army marches to take back the Forbidden Zone from a threat which lives in the underground ruins of old New York City.

A new Bond versus a new Blofeld. On Her Majesty's Secret Service proves that more than one man can portray James Bond. George Lazenby and Diana Rigg both provide excellent performances in a much more personal movie. OHMSS is, at its heart, a love story, with some downhill ski chases and gunshots thrown in. Blofeld, seems to be pursuing his own needs, rather than the needs of his organization, SPECTRE.

Next time on Reel Comic Heroes: Episode 009 - On Her Majesty's Secret Service

We're back with our first review format episode. If you missed the previous Announcement episode, we're switching the format from Audio Commentary to Movie Review.

You Only Live Twice stars Sean Connery as Agent 007 in his fifth cinematic outing. His mission takes him to Japan where he must confront the head of SPECTRE himself, Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

NOTE: We had some audio quality issues with this episode, and for that we apologize.
