The Commanders are reeling. They’re coming off another embarrassing loss, this time to the lowly New York Giants, 31-19 at home. Now they have to travel on just a couple days of rest to face a Cowboys team who is rolling after beating the Caroling Panthers 33-10
Jeff Cavanaugh from Bleav in Cowboys says the Commanders are an enigma. He can’t get over a team with such a good roster has had terrible results. He also breaks down why he doesn’t understand the love/hate relationship with Cowboys fans and quarterback Dak Prescott.
We touch on this and what to expect for this Thanksgiving Day matchup at AT&T stadium in Irving Texas. Let’s gooooooo!
Shaq Leonard is available and Washington has a need at linebacker. Does that mean the Commanders should go after the pro bowl player? Sam Howell loses a bit and shows the team can still have a bit of fun despite Ron Rivera's comments Monday. What do the snap counts from Sunday tell us about the future of the Commanders? Nothing good Nathan says.
The offense was bad, the defense was bad and the special teams pitched in with a missed extra point and a fumble on a kick return. It was bad all the way around and the Commanders were embarrassed by a bad Giants team.
Sam Howell looked bad. He really struggled on all kinds of throws and threw 3 interceptions. The defense continues to give up chunk plays, the most in the league.
And yet Ron Rivera still has a job. What will it take for Rivera to be shown the door?
After all this, are there any silver linings in this game or for the future? We give you our Go-Go’s and No-Go’s on the Day After Reckoning. Let’s gooooooooo!
The Giants are actively trying to tank the season. They sent out a quarterback, Tommy Devito who has no business being in the NFL. And yet Devito looked like Tom Brady. The team who is scoring a league low 11.8 ppg, put 31 on Washington.
The turnovers were the biggest problem. Washington committed 6 of them. It kept their offense from sustaining drives and forced the defense into protecting short fields which they could not do as the Giants scored 21 points off the turnovers.
But coaching is the biggest reason for the failures. In year 4, Ron Rivera’s team still cannot put a competent team on the field. It’s embarrassing and Ron Rivera should be fired TODAY!
Sam Howell had his 3rd consecutive good game, this time out in Seattle. However, it wasn't enough as the defense gave up almost 500 yards to a Seahawks team that came in struggling on offense as Geno Smith got right. In New York, the Giants were humiliated by the Cowboys who racked up more than 600 yards and defeated a Giants team that was starting a 3rd string quarterback and is out plenty of starters due to injury. Will the Commanders be able to continue with their torrid offense? Last time they played the Giants they were only able to score 7 points and Sam Howell was sacked 6 times by an attacking defense coordinated by Wink Martindale. Former Giants (& Redskins!) linebacker and co-host of the Bleav in Giants podcast joins us to talk all about it on our Game Preview of Commanders vs Giants.
Ron Rivera had his press conference today and when asked about his future he said there are only 2 questions that need to be asked. Did he change the culture and do we have our QB. Those are definitely 2 important questions but it leaves out the most important one. Are we winning?
Ron has definitely improved the culture within the organization. However, he lucked his way into Sam Howell. He didn’t draft him to be the franchise QB. He did it as an afterthought.
But the most important question is about winning. Has he done enough? Of course not. The most he’s won is 8 games.
We look at the injuries for both teams and who we expect to play and we also dive a little more into Sam Howell and what Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale thinks of the Commanders QB.
All of that and more on the Daily Commanders Update for 17 November. Let’s gooooooooo!
The Bill Belichick to Washington rumor has kicked into full gear. Does Nathan think this is the future of the franchise? Plus your injuries and updates for Thursday's practice leave one concern and one hopeful for the next few games. Jack Del Rio and Eric Bieniemy both defend their players. Nathan doesn't find either too convincing.
The Cool Down - Sam Howell with another 300 3 TD game? Brian Robinson with another 100+ yard day? Jahan Dotson remembers he's on this team? Cheeseman doesn't have a bad snap? We've got BOLD predictions and the final game score ready for you!
The Game - The Washington Commanders are back in black! It's the dreaded black jerseys for the home game against the New York Giants. Can the Commanders break the curse? The Giants have had the Commanders number the last couple of seasons but are pretty beat up at this point. Will the Commanders be a get right game for Big Blue or do we finally see a big game from the Burgundy and Gold?
