The Psalmist tells us here that we should be grateful and continually praising God all day long because He has supported and held us up since before we were born and will continue to be our support and strength till the end of time. Though we know this to be true, it doesn't mean we refrain from asking God for assistance. Instead, as we discussed in Psalm 70, we can let God know that our requests are urgent and we need assistance right now. 

We continue journeying through Psalm 71 in this episode. Here the Psalmist tells us about a strong house, a place we can resort. Not just when we are hurting or in need, but continually. He then goes on to tell us about a foundation and fort that sustains and protects our lives. Join me to learn more. 

Here we get to start walking through Psalm 71. We only read two verses in this episode, but stop because there is much for us to learn in those two verses. First, the Psalmist reminds us who he trusts in, are we also trusting in the same power, strength, and love throughout our lives? Then he has a simple, yet profoundly impactful request. What is that request and should we maybe also be requesting similar items in our lives? 

This episode takes us through the entirety of Psalm 70. Here we see that the Psalmist is in a tough place and needs assistance right away. So, he comes to God and asks that He rapidly provide the help that is needed. When we also find ourselves in a place that needs deliverance, are we coming to God and asking Him to speedily help us instead of trying to carry or figure it out on our own? 

We started this episode with the Psalmist being pinned down by overwhelming amounts of water and being stuck. As the Psalm has progressed, we've learned about the harsh criticism and pain he is feeling. But as the Psalm wraps up, his focus comes to God, God sets prisoners free. We are no longer bound to the weight and overwhelming situation, rejection, and pain. Instead, we are set free, saved by our Father, and given a place to live with Him for all eternity. Because we know He is caring for us, providing for our needs, we can praise Him in the middle of our storms, locking eyes on Him and His promises instead of the storm around us. 

We continue journeying through Psalm 69 in this episode where literally the Psalmist tells us that criticism has broken his heart. How relatable of a statement is this for you? I know it certainly is and has been true at points in my life. But in that moment of pain, what does the Psalmist request. Should we also be making that request? 

The Psalmist tells us here that God will deliver us in an acceptable time. God sees our multiple-year plan, whole life story, and even our whole world's story. He knows that what happens right now will affect or could affect us 50 years down the road. Though we may not be where we think we should be, know that we are where God knows we need to be and will answer our prayers and help us at the exact right moment. Trust in Him and His ability to save you. 

We continue walking through Psalm 69 in this episode. The Psalmist here tells us that he is a stranger and alien among his family members, feeling rejected and lonely. But that isn't where his woes stop, he also tells us the town is gossiping about him and drunkards are singing about him. Though we are rejected by our family or being spoken badly about, know that you are not in this alone, God is by your side we can and should turn to Him for help.  

This episode takes us to the beginning of Psalm 69. We immediately see the Psalmist go into a discussion about what he is facing and feeling at this time. Water is in his soul, he is sinking into the mire, and floods are overflowing him. Have there ever been moments in your life where you've felt this way? Remember how before battle in Gladiator, the movie starring Russell Crowe, they would say, strength and honor? Well, here the Psalmist gives us our own saying to quote before we do something challenging or just as we start our day, strength and power. These verses tell us that though we have spearmen and bulls coming after us, God can stop them. He rides between the heavens and is the definition of strength. But as His children, we are then told that He gives us strength and power to walk through our lives. Are we leaning into Him and His power for us today?
