For instance, the Dutch Reformation in no small part helped by William the Silent, by secretly preparing to thwart the machinations of Rome. And when Rome finally did come for the Netherlands many heroic episodes ensued. Were is this church today?

Why does God hide himself? Well, the princes of this world would not have killed Christ if they had known what they were doing. The Church and Christ both look humble. Ultimately, He has chosen Christians in order to reveal His will to the world.

The puritans are quite literally the foundation of the US. They championed the cause of the slave and were the driving force of the abolitionist movement in the North. The governmental model that we have was largely borrowed from the puritans and the rules of evidence used in our courts was established by them.

Unfortunately, the only testimony that anyone remembers is the poor testimony (putting it mildly) of the Salem witch trials.
