September 30, 2020Reformation Roundtable Ep. 17 - The Destruction of JerusalemThroughout the gospel accounts, Jesus predicted the destruction of Jerusalem in stunning detail. He predicted it would happen within a generation and that it would mark the "end of the age" which we interpret to mean the "Jewish Age." Matthew 24 especially depicts in extraordinary detail the precise way in which Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed. RC Sproul takes us on a historical journey through this devastating and prophecy fulfilling event as witness first hand by Flavius Josephus. Truly the Word of God is miraculous in it's perfection. Reformation Roundtable seeks to plant a reformed church in Lewis County, WA. If you would like to join us in our quest to bring the glories of the reformation to this area please reach out to us....more1h 14minPlay
September 23, 2020Reformation Roundtable Ep. 16 – This Generation and The End of the AgeThe foundational issue with eschatology surrounds time. Since eschatology means "the study of last things," it truly is the foundational issue. Jesus had a lot to say about the future and about judgement against the Jews and the destruction of Jerusalem. Many Christians have had their faith shaken because the secular argument is made against them that the prophecies of Jesus foretelling this destruction, never came true. As Christians we know all of Scripture is inspired and absolutely true. So how do we reconcile the fact that Jesus said, in reference to the end of the age that "this generation will not pass away until all of these things have taken place" and the commonly held belief amongst Evangelical Christians that all of the prophecy of the New Testament remains unfullfilled? RC Sproul tackles this interesting topic in episode #16 of the Reformation Roundtable....more1h 18minPlay
July 18, 2020Reformation Roundtable Ep. 15 – Literal vs Figurative InterpretationThe debate within eschatology often centers around a "literal" interpretation vs a "figurative" interpretation. R.C. Sproul walks us carefully through the dangers of using either approach exclusively. He also explains some of the misunderstandings surrounding the idea of "literal" interpretation. My own view is that all of Scripture is the "literal" word of God but not all of Scripture ought to be take as being scientifically literal. For example, Jesus is a figurative "door" unto salvation. Not a literal door made of wood. When Scripture says that the moon will be turned to blood, it doesn't mean the actual celestial body in the sky will turn from stone to hemoglobins and plasma. Certain things are meant to be understood poetically, historically, and yes, figuratively....more57minPlay

June 12, 2020Reformation Roundtable Ep. 13 – Crisis in EschatologyIn todays episode, we continue our exploration of Eschatology or the study of last things. We are seeking to gain an understanding of each other and our theological positions. We would like to start a distinctly reformed church in Lewis County and would like to have as much likemindedness as possible on this very important doctrine. We discuss in depth during the roundtable portion of the episode the "why" of eschatology. Why does it matter? What difference does it make if you believe Jesus will likely come back any minute versus in 5000 years. We would love to have other like minded believers join us in this vision to bring reformation to Lewis County. June 04, 2020Reformation Roundtable Ep. 12 – Eschatology: Dispensational PremillennialismToday we dive into the world of Eschatology or the study of "last things." Sam Storms will take us through the most commonly held theological system in Evangelical Christianity, Dispensational Premillennialism. This is not a widely held belief among Reformed Christians but it is helpful to get a good understanding of it to begin finding common ground. After he gives his lecture, he does a short Q&A with the audience which is very helpful. Following this Q&A is the roundtable discussion that involved men in the Lewis County Washington area who would like to see a reformed church start. During our roundtable we discussed a YouTube video called "An Evening of Eschatology" which can be found here: youtu.be/4S0TQ2dXnms...more1h 12minPlay

May 14, 2020Reformation Roundtable Ep. 9 – Limited AtonementWelcome to another episode of Reformation Roundtable. In this discussion we’re going to be diving into the doctrine of Limited Atonement. We will be hearing a lecture by RC Sproul on the doctrine and then the roundtable discussion will follow the teaching. You won’t want to miss this discussion because Limited Atonement is the most misunderstood of the 5 doctrines of grace and therefore often is cast aside in ignorance. A church unashamed of the glories of the reformation who are eager and willing to carry out Christ’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. A church in love with God and understanding Him accurately as revealed in Scripture who embrace all the glories of His divine sovereignty.
