This continues a series of studies stemming from my studies with Bruce Waltke, his lectures, and our book, How to Read and Understand the Psalms (Crossway, 2023). The sermon explores themes of justice, righteousness, and divine judgment within the context of Psalm 7, examining David's lament and plea for deliverance from false accusations and persecution by King Saul. It highlights the psalm's expression of trust in God's character as a righteous judge who tests both actions and intentions, ultimately offering assurance that God's faithfulness and promise of vindication will prevail over adversity. The analysis connects David's personal struggle to broader theological concepts of God's sovereignty, the coming day of judgment, and the ultimate triumph of righteousness through faith in Christ, emphasizing the hope of being declared righteous through substitutionary atonement.
