Refreshing Bread - daily meditation from the Word of God.
Meditation by Fr. Iuliu Muntean
Matthew 25:1-13
Meditation:
Like the five foolish virgins, many people today do not feed the lamp of their heart with the wisdom of the Gospel. People need hope in order to encounter Jesus! How many books of the Gospels, in a lot of families, remain closed almost all the time, because those people are attracted to completely different thoughts and focus on their own problems?
The Christian life should not be reduced to a list of duties to perform, sins to not commit or prayers to “recite”. The Christian life must be open to Jesus and the will of the one who sent Him. When we accept Jesus, it makes sense to live, because in that way we are focused on the desire to know, love, imitate, wait, and accept our merciful Savior.
In this parable, Jesus mentions that the door is closed immediately after the entrance of the Bridegroom. The five foolish virgins, who had gone for additional oil for their lamps, arrived late and could not enter the marriage feast. Not only that, but when they knocked, a voice answered from inside: “I do not know you!”
The Lord created us, knows us and loves us. In fact, it is not him who does not want to know us, who does not want to recognize us. No, not at all; it’s about the unwary, about those who during their lifetime have not cared to know and love Jesus, to approach him and to follow him. They are guided by their own thoughts, desires and actions in the opposite direction of God. They live “as if God did not exist” and therefore they deliberately remove themselves from the eyes of Jesus ...
Let us seek Jesus, let us come every day to Him, let us try to live with Him in an authentic "communion of love". Then Jesus “will know us”, and we will enter with him to the wedding feast: the eternal marriage!
