Fringe Festival 2023 : Shane Daniel Byrne

Refreshing Pod is back for a new series, and this summer it's all about the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, as Johnny speaks to a host or acts preforming in August as part of the Fringe, or Free (Fringe) Festival.

"But He's Gay..." is the latest work from Irish comedy's new wonder-kid (in his mid-30s) - Daniel Shane Byrne.

He's back in Edinburgh for the first time after winning second place at 'So you Think You're Funny' 2019.

Shane and Johnny sit down inside a hut in the Gilded Balloon and chat about his show, and how his life both now, and in the past has shaped the content.

Fringe Festival 2023 : Kiran Deol

Making something funny, out of something horrid ain't that easy, but Oscar shortlisted and Emmy nominated stand-up comedian Kiran Deol has done just that!

**Very strong language during this interview, with themes surrounding assault**

Kiran was hospitalised after a stranger smashed a glass bottle on her face. This is a joysuck.

Joysuck is a stand-up storytelling hour with belly laughs, surprising twists, and fascinating story that above all, is a rollicking good time.

Johnny also brings in his own personal story on when he was attacked, and how both Kiran and Johnny had to have plastic surgery. Lucky for both, they can laugh at this looking back.

Tamsyn Kelly is a great, exciting talent on the comedy circuit. (BBC New Comedy Awards, Comedy Central Live)

In her 2023 show, Tamsyn reveals she's cried in lots of high street shops, but mostly in TK Maxx. Hence her show is called 'Crying In TK Maxx' running until 27th Aug.

Tamsyn Kelly discovers footage of her estranged father in a Channel 4 documentary, she's forced to stop and reassess her life, asking

• How have men shaped who she is?
• Will the chicken-shop guy ever give her the time of day, and..
• Why was Mr Blobby her first crush?

A brutally honest, but fair appraisal of the men in her life. Tamsyn is a fab working class comedian from Cornwall telling insanely genius stories from a rather (at times) insane life.

Fringe Festival 2023 : BriTANicK

Refreshing Pod is back for a new series, and this summer it's all about the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, as Johnny speaks to a host or acts preforming in August as part of the Fringe, or Free (Fringe) Festival.

Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher are very serious about making silly videos. The name BriTANicK was thought about years ago and now it's too late to change it. It’s sketch show comedy & physical theatre at it's finest.

Both lads are a powerhouse in comedy! With acting credits on 'How I Met Your Mother' & writing credits for NBC's Saturday Night Live & 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'

Brian & Nick catch up with Johnny (who seen the performance of BriTANicK in 2022) and discovered what's in-store for 2023 when it returns to Edinburgh for a (WIP) run at Assembly from the 21st - 26th Aug.

From a fart museum, to getting (almost) fully naked & jumping on the odd audience member, talking about how writing and acting helps ideas flow, and going on stage supporting Robin Williams on one of the 1st ever live BriTANicK performances. Plus we go down a wormhole regarding Cartoon Network.
