Refreshingly Honest Christian

We talk purity movement, growing up in a ministry family/the family of God(father), being okay with not having all the answers, saying the EFF word and the benefits of having a Christian therapist.

Perhaps it goes without saying but the issue of LGBTQ inclusion in the evangelical church is hugely contentious and even broaching the subject can land a church in peril.

Take Eastlake Church in Seattle for example: It was a standard evangelical church for several years that eventually led to identifying LGBTQ as being allowed to become members.

That decision turned this megachurch from about 5,000 people to about half of that overnight.

They went from about 8 million dollars a year, annual budget, to about half of that overnight.

George Mekhail was a pastor at Eastlake at the time and has since co-founded Church Clarity, an organization that advocates why Churches everywhere should be explicitly clear about what their LGBTQ polices and Women in Leadership policies are.

A long awaited guest makes her debut. She's been talked about frequently on the show and is now making her first appearance! Jaclyn's story is one of bravery, patience and a pursuit of truth. Enjoy.

A new friend joins us on the show. He's a former pastor, turned podcast host and a hardcore 1 on the Enneagram. His name is Tim Ritter and we're sure you'll love him! Enjoy.

This week we talk with a good friend of ours, Evan Earwicker; He's the Creative Arts Pastor at Westside Church (our home church) in Bend, Oregon and an incredible speaker and creative. We know you'll love him. Enjoy!

It's the first official episode of Refreshingly Honest Christian! This week, we talk with Dominic Done, the lead pastor of Westside: A Jesus Church in Portland, Oregon and the author of the book, 'When Faith Fails: Finding God in the Shadow of Doubt.'

Welcome! In this teaser episode, David & Jake talk about the show, what it is, who it's for and have a little RHC fun along the way.
