Perhaps it goes without saying but the issue of LGBTQ inclusion in the evangelical church is hugely contentious and even broaching the subject can land a church in peril.
Take Eastlake Church in Seattle for example: It was a standard evangelical church for several years that eventually led to identifying LGBTQ as being allowed to become members.
That decision turned this megachurch from about 5,000 people to about half of that overnight.
They went from about 8 million dollars a year, annual budget, to about half of that overnight.
