Refuge & Strength

Why is it so hard to truly trust the LORD—even when we know we should? In this episode, we unpack the deeper, ongoing struggle between our flesh and faith, and why walking by sight often feels more natural than walking by faith.

Looking at the powerful testimony of King David in Psalm 31, we explore how real trust in God isn’t rooted in comfort, circumstances, or people—but in God’s unchanging character. This episode challenges the way we approach God: Are we trusting Him for who He is, or for what we hope He’ll do? Through David’s example, we’re reminded that true faith is anchored in the holiness, power, and mercy of God—not in the people or resources around us.

If you’ve ever struggled to trust God in the middle of hardship, this conversation will help re-center your focus on the One who holds everything—and you—in His hands.

Trusting the LORD is easy to say—but much harder to live out. In this episode, we examine how our hearts often claim to trust God while secretly relying on people, resources, or circumstances for security. Looking at the powerful testimony of King David in Psalms 31:6–8, we see how real trust in the LORD is forged through hardship. David’s life shows that when everything else fails, God’s mercy, wisdom, and faithfulness are more than enough. Join us as we explore what it truly means to place our confidence in the LORD alone as we answer the question, “How Do We Know We Trust The LORD?”

People can be fickle—even believers. One moment we praise God, the next we fail one another. In this episode, we explore how the story of David and the people of Keilah shows the unpredictable nature of humanity and the unchanging faithfulness of God. Through Psalm 31, we understand why David trusted in the LORD alone and how his experience points ahead to Jesus, who was also betrayed by those He came to save. While people often fall short, God remains our true refuge, strength, and the only One worthy of our complete trust.

The power of God’s Word is the same power that created the universe—and it’s the same power revealed in the Gospel to transform lives. In this episode, we explore the dramatic testimony of Psalm 30:11–12, where King David describes how God’s mercy completely changed his heart after a season of judgment and repentance. After witnessing the devastating consequences of sin, David experienced the overwhelming grace of God that turned his mourning into dancing and replaced guilt with lasting joy. This conversation highlights the life-changing power of God’s mercy and reminds us that when we truly encounter His grace, the transformation should be undeniable.

Seasons of comfort and prosperity can quietly pull our hearts away from God. In this episode, we explore the powerful lesson of Psalm 30, where King David reflects on how success and security led him into dangerous self-confidence. When prosperity turned into pride, it caused devastating consequences but also a deeper understanding of God’s mercy. This conversation looks at how comfort can become a spiritual trap, why God resists pride, and how repentance restores our dependence on Him. Through David’s story, we are reminded that true security isn’t found in our circumstances but in humble reliance on the LORD.

Life is hard for everyone. Because all fall short of God’s glory, we naturally produce corruption, not righteousness—and we all feel the weight of sin’s consequences. But this episode explores the powerful truth that while God’s anger is real, His mercy is greater and eternal for those who receive it by faith.

Looking at David’s experience in Psalm 30, we see how God restrained His wrath, preserved His promises, and turned weeping into joy. If not for God’s mercy, we would all be condemned. Instead, through His holiness, faithfulness, and grace, He gives undeserved life, renewed purpose, and eternal hope. This episode is a reminder that though weeping may endure for a night, joy truly comes in the morning.

In this episode, we explore what the Bible really means when it calls God our Healer—Jehovah Rapha. While Scripture records powerful moments of physical healing, the greater miracle has always been spiritual. From Matthew 9, where Jesus forgave a paralytic before restoring his body, to Psalms 30, where David praised God for healing his soul after rebellion and judgment, we see that God’s goodness goes far beyond the physical. True healing is the mercy that forgives sin, restores relationships, and rescues the soul from condemnation. Join us as we examine how God’s greatest work isn’t just to fix our circumstances—but to redeem, restore, and re-equip us for His eternal purposes.

True worship isn’t just singing—it’s responding to who God actually is. In this episode, we explore Psalm 29 to see how God’s Word reveals His power, His holiness, and why He alone is worthy of praise. When we understand His nature and His purposes, worship becomes surrender—not performance. And amazingly, the same Word that judges and shakes creation is the Word that strengthens and blesses His people with peace. That’s the beauty of holiness—and that’s who God is as our Refuge & Strength.

A Biblical reflection on humility and stewardship, exploring how David understood God as YAHWEH – the eternally self-existing and self-sustaining source of all things. This episode unpacks Psalm 29 to reveal this timeless truth: everything we have comes from God. A reminder that our role as stewards – not owners – should lead us to true worship expressed through humble surrender and holy obedience, and the practical steps we can take to use our influence, resources, and life itself to glorify God with joy and satisfaction.

Some people say that God answers every prayer, either by saying “yes,” “no,” or “wait.” Is that true, and if so, to what extent? What does it really look like in everyday life when God answers prayer the way we hope? We don’t have to guess. There are times when God answers prayer powerfully and clearly. Does our pursuit of God in prayer reflect faith in this truth, and how should we respond when God answers? These are the questions we'll tackle in this episode, which is why I’ve titled it “When God Answers Prayer.” Our study of Psalm 28 will provide us with clear insights into what it actually looks like when God responds and what our response should be.
