Despite being a relatively young city, KL has already seen the benefits of certain areas being gentrified, rebranded and repackaged into shiny new neighbourhoods with swanky names to match. This process, while increasing value of properties in said areas, has also displaced long standing communities and has by and large, been a cosmetic and commercial exercise. This year's World Class Sustanainable Cities conference is hoping to change all that by promoting a more social centred version of urban regeneration that takes community welfare such as access to education, healthcare and employment to heart.
