The Kewanee School Board met on Monday night and among the topics was the latest Equalized Assessed Value or EAV for the Kewanee School District Community. The latest EAV saw an increase in assessed value in the community which is good for the Kewanee School District. It does not mean that taxes were increased for the community, as Dr. Sullens explains, only that there was more assessed property value across the community which benefits the school district. Dr. Sullens also gave WKEI an update on the ongoing construction projects in the district ahead of the harsh winter weather arriving this holiday weekend.

The Kewanee Park Board met on Thursday, December 15th, in a meeting that was broadcast live on the WKEI Facebook. During the meeting, the Park Board passed their annual tax levy and it was announced that software has been purchased and will be implemented to allow for online sign-up for Parks activities. The goal is to have the online sign up ready to go for Soccer season, 2023. As for what's left of 2022, Andrew Dwyer Director of the Kewanee Parks Department, spoke to WKEI about the beauty of the lights in Windmont and Northeast Park and praised generosity of those who lended their time to put up the lights and displays in each park. The Henry and Stark County Health Department announced the latest COVID-19 numbers on Wednesday. Numbers were up in Henry County but down in Stark County for the seven day period ending this past Tuesday. The Henry County Farm Bureau are celebrating several awards received at the annual meet of Illinois County Farm Bureau's in Chicago last week. Katie Laleman with the Henry County Farm Bureau was our guest on WKEI's Wake Up Tri-Counties this week to talk about the honors received by Henry County Farm Bureau and the Young Leaders of Henry County Farm Bureau.
