Samantha Rux from OSF Saint Luke Medical Center and Wendy Allaman, Manager for Senior and Volunteer Services for OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, joined WKEI on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Monday, June 28th. Volunteer opportunities are open now at OSF facilities in Kewanee and Monmouth and Wendy laid out how you can become a volunteer at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center with positions as Greeters, gift shop workers and volunteers in the Transportation services department.

Perry Memorial Hospital will be officially christened OSF St Clair Medical Center this week. Jackie Kernan is the President of OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee and will assume the same position with OSF St Clair Medical Center this week. Roxanna Crosser is the CEO of OSF Healthcare's Western Region. Our series on Mental Health and children in our community, presented by Great Dane and the Kewanee Area United Way continued on Friday with a conversation with Taylor Hager from Braveheart Children's Advocacy Center. Taylor spoke to WKEI about the services Braveheart offers to help kids and families struggling with mental health issues. Braveheart Children's Advocacy Center's job doesn't end once a child ends up in the legal system, services are undertaken afterward that children and families can benefit from, specifically related mental health and at no cost.

Katie Noyd has won the coveted title of Henry County Fair Queen for 2021. Competing in her very first pageant, Katie may have been new in the game but she learned fast and enjoyed every bit of the experience. On Friday's edition of Wake Up Tri-Counties, Katie joined WKEI to talk about the whole experience of her first pageant, what's still to come at the Henry County Fair this weekend and what the future holds for Miss Henry County Fair, here's hint, it includes another pageant competition and continuing her studies at Western Illinois University.

On this week's edition of Sean at the Movies, I talked with the directors and stars of two movies that I really enjoyed, Werewolves Within and Roillers. First up, actor Michael Chernus and director Josh Ruben talk about the funny and the scary of Werewolves Within. Then I had a wonderful one on one conversation with Harry Guillen, one of the terrific ensemble in Werewolves Within. Then, I was lucky to chat with the team behind Roller, writer-director Isaiah Smallman, and stars Johnny Ray Gill and Kevin Bigley.

The Kewanee Public Library will honor Kewanee's Mr Baseball, Lou Reynolds with an event on July 8th. Historian Dean Karau will be at the Kewanee Public Library in the Community Room at 6 Pm for a retrospective conversation about the life and baseball history of Lou Reynolds. Sara Billiet from the Kewanee Public Library was our guest on on Wake Up Tri-Counties to talk about the event on July 8th along with promoting the Adult Book Club via GoodReads.com and the in-person non-fiction book club at the Kewanee Public Library.

Ameren Illinois is now part of the Midwest Mutual Assistance Network. This means that crews from Ameren will be at the ready to respond to power outages due to disasters across the state of Illinois and the Midwest. And, as Riley Adams Manager of Electric Initiatives for Ameren Illinois explained to WKEI, it also means that if a disaster happens locally, Ameren can call on lineman from the Midwest Mutual Assistance Network to assure that electricity will be restored as quickly and safely as possible.

The Henry and Stark County Health Department announced their latest COVID-19 Recovery Rate Data and the numbers are relatively the same from last week. There are currently 13 active cases of COVID-19 between Henry and Stark County. That was down from 14 last week. That said, the fact that active infections are still out there underlines the need for people to get vaccinated. With that in mind, the Health Department announced a pair of Pfizer vaccine clinics for school age students, 12 to 17 years old for next week. The Health Department also has a limited supply of Johnson and Johnson one shot vaccines that they are distributing specifically to homebound individuals in Kewanee.
