Dr Andy Peterson from OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee joined WKEI on Tuned In on Monday, April 19th, to talk about alcohol consumption and the pandemic. The CDC is studying just how much alcohol consumption increased during the pandemic and how that is having a major effect on liver health. It is believed that we may see a serious increase in health issues related to the liver and due to the increased amount of alcohol consumed during the pandemic. Whether this was from the stress of dealing with the pandemic or perhaps related to people spending more time at home with little else to do, the increase in alcohol consumption over the past year could have a serious long term impact on the health of millions Americans for years to come.

Golf leagues resume at Kewanee Dunes in May. Teams of up to 8 players can participate every Tuesday night with prizes on the line and all building to an end of the season banquet at Kewanee Dunes paid for via the league fees. WWE fans may not yet know former NFL player A.J Francis but they are about to in a big way. A.J is now the host of WWE's Most Wanted Treasures, a new A & E Series in which A.J joins with a WWE legend like The Undertaker, Mick Foley or Kane, to track down a memorable piece of WWE legend. Along the way the legends tell stories about the things they are searching for and what it meant to them when they had it. It's a show filled with nostalgia and a little detective work as A.J and team must locate whatever happened to this piece of WWE memorabilia. WWE's Most Wanted Treasures debuts on A & E on Sunday, April 18th.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Freedom House is a non-profit organization that serves survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence. Freedom House provides services to adults and children in Bureau, Henry, Marshall, Putnam, and Stark Counties.

Sexual Violence Program team members Kayla Major, Child/Teen Counselor and Alicia Cole, Trainer/Volunteer Coordinator at Freedom House in Princeton, visited Wake Up Princeton on WZOE-AM recently. They said this month is a time to focus on awareness of sexual assault in our local communities, adding the key to prevention is education about consent and boundaries from an early age.

There’s always a need for volunteers at Freedom House. They’re currently in need of medical advocacy volunteers. They provide direct support to victims of domestic violence or sexual assault in the hospital’s emergency department. One of the first lines of support after a victim has experienced a traumatic event. There is also a need for volunteers for client transportation, child care and staffing the hotline. On the latest edition of Sean at the Movies I talk with star Dilan Jay and Director Daniel Zirelli about their throwback action movie Hollow Point. Hollow Point tells the story of an ethics professor, played by Dilan Jay, who loses his wife and daughter to a horrific murderer. The culprit is a drug dealer played by Jay Mohr and the murder sets Jay off on a path toward revenge but along the way, he slowly realizes how futile and pointless vengeance is, that essentially, vengeance has a point but it is a Hollow Point. Michael Pare, Luke Goss and Juju Chan co-star in Hollow Point which is in limited theatrical release and is available anywhere were streaming movies can be rented.
