Former Tonight Show Bandleader Doc Severinson was recently subject of the PBS Documentary Series American Masters. The documentary chronicles the 93 year old's career in entertainment from the era of the big band to his time on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and life after The Tonight Show when Doc toured ceaselessly because he couldn't stop playing trumpet. The film also talks about Doc's influence on other trumpet players and The Tonight Show itself. We talked with Doc Severinson about his career today in the Noon Hour on WKEI.

The latest Recovery Rate Data from the Henry and Stark County Health Department was released on Wednesday and showed increase of 40 active, ongoing cases of COVID-19 between the two counties. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department joined WKEI on People to People and to call on people to continue to follow guidelines for avoiding getting COVID-19. Part of the problem with rising cases has to do with bars and restaurants where capacity limits are being ignored and not enough effort is being put in to keeping people safe. The Henry and Stark County Health Department released new guidelines for bars and restaurants, encouraging owners to get their employees vaccinated while also reminding them that they still have state imposed guidelines they must follow at the risk of potential sanctions if they are not in compliance.

Moira Rothert, Care Coordinator and Discharge Planner at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, was on WLMD recently to discuss the hospital’s Transitional Care program.

When you’re recovering from an illness or injury, you may hit a point at which you don’t quite need to be a regular hospital patient, yet you are not quite ready to fend for yourself at home, either. That is when you need Transitional Care. You may also hear this referred to as Swing Bed Care.

Transitional Care at Memorial Hospital is a patient-centered, high quality program for hospitalized patients recovering from illness or surgery who may no longer need to be in a traditional hospital setting but are not yet ready to go home.

Beth Chatterton, McDonough County 4H Coordinator, joined WLMD MacombNewsNow.com to discuss the upcoming McDonough County 4H Barbecue happening May 7th from 5 Pm to 7 Pm. Tickets can be purchased from any 4H member or from the University of Illinois Extension Office located on the McDonough County Fairgrounds in Macomb. Tickets before May 7th are $6.00 or you can buy them on the day of the Barbecue for $7.00. Each barbecue meal includes a Pork Chop Sandwich, Baked Beans, a Cookie and a drink. All proceeds from the McDonough County 4H Barbecue go to support 4H activities and scholarships.
