Henry County Sheriff Kerry Loncka believes that justice reform or police reform are needed. However, the bill that passed during late night hours of the lame duck session of the most recent Illinois legislature is not the kind of reform the Sheriff has in mind. The bill was riddled with issues that weren't completely vetted due to the last minute nature of the bill but more urgently, the bill was crafted with little to no input from the men and women who will be subject to it, member of law enforcement. The next opportunity to sign up for a Drive Thru COVID-19 vaccine clinic for people 65 years and older, opens Monday morning at 9 Am on Monday, February 8th. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department joined WKEI on People to People to urge people to stay safe and be patient. The Health Department is waiting for more vaccine to arrive and when it does, more clinics will be scheduled and more people will be vaccinated.

Wethersfield Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach, Jeff Parsons, joined the Coaches Corner on Saturday morning to discuss the return of High School Sports. Basketball practices are starting and basketball games will be played next Saturday, February 6th for Wethersfield Boys and Girls. Football, Baseball, Wrestling, return later in the Spring. Volleyball will be back soon and may actually get to have a postseason unlike basketball where the big prize in this unusual season will be conference championship.

Kewanee Police Chief Nick Welgat joined WKEI on Friday morning for our People to People program. We are anticipating a significant snow storm on Saturday that will likely lead to the streets of Kewanee needing to be plowed. The Chief of Police wants to remind residents that when we are in a snow emergency, parking must be off the street so as to allow for plows to safely clear the streets. With a significant snow storm coming Saturday, the Kewanee Police will be working with the Public Works Department to contact residents and ask them to move their vehicles.
